D_ManXX2 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Right now i tried speed fan but some how it won't detect much from my system also won't allow me to change fan speed etc.. The laptop is a Packard bell Easy note. I tried searching for tool like that but could not find any that will work with this laptop. I was looking for a tool like that because it looked like this laptop was running too hot then it should be, Also i tried opening it up and clean all fans and adding new thermal paste but somehow it did little difference the laptop is still too high then what i had when my desktop was still running right.
sorsharavenwing Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Speedfan doesn't work on all laptops. They offer pretty great support for Dell laptops, but everything else is kind of hit or miss. Your system board should control the CPU fan speed based on the CPU's temp. I don't know much about Packard Bell systems since I haven't seen them in the US in at least 15 years possibly more. As such, I have no idea what the BIOS on your system looks like, but you may be able to manually set the fan speed parameters in the BIOS setup. You might also consider that the fan is going bad. I've seen this on quite a few laptops that I've serviced. The fan just isn't able to spin fast enough to keep the CPU running at an appropriate temperature.
Rayblue Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Either HWinfo or Coretemp. I used to keep Speedfan but seems to have an issue with some sensor chipsets.
