plolwat Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 The animation bug where everything works except for the two actors that do nothing but standing idles facing/overlapping each other during sex sequences is caused by a bunch of things, but if you know you did everything right on the sexout side, it's probably FCO Master/Glowing or Enclave bunker mods that are messing something up. I repeated this bug twice and the only difference between a working load and a bugged load has been these two esp/esm's.

Maybe after I've merged in ZAZ and perhaps Slavery, people already complain about # of items in load order.

That's what I noticed with Alice before I cleaned it: if it was before Sexout.esm, it was working correctly; if it was lower, its knockdown was blocking Sexout animations. Note that it was ESP with ESM header, that's why I was able to move it before. You had a great idea Prideslayer, I never thought about that

You can just put sexout and it's ESMs last, no need for a cleaned/empty ESM. It's the screwy ESPs that are the problem. I'm not going to think about it too much though. I still intend to switch sexout from pickidle to playidle with the actual idle names, eventually, which will completely resolve the problem. The dirty idle anim edits only affect pickidle.

I think it's a bug that could affect other custom branches when they're highed than Loose, so it's not bad cleaning that anyway. Now the interesting part would be understanding why GECK sets as "modified" the Knockdown branch the first time you open the menu. Same happens with the Races menu, whatever race I focus (without modifying anything) will be marked as "modified". But I agree, no need in a cleaned esm when the ESPs are the real problem. Maybe rebuilding a vanilla Knockdown branch (maybe simply copying it from the FONV.ESM to a dummy ESP via xEdit?) on a clean ESP could do the trick. Need to try it one day... @nouseforaname I never checked those two mods and it's strange that they modify animation branches. However, with your current load order, since Sexout is loaded after them, that should solve the problem (if really they are the problem)

The geck is trying to keep track of the ordering of the groups, and it does that with the ANAM entries in IDLE record. When you add a new one, it modifies it's neighbor for the 'previous sibling' entry. Cleaning the file to work with sexout is just deleting that modification. If you don't, then the sexout anim groups (which also do not have it -- they are clean) are 'pushed' out of the linked list into nowhere. It seems like it's always Knockdown because that's the first (or last?) one in the list, and by default, when you add a new one it adds it right next to Knockdown. The real mystery is.. why is that 'previous sibiling' ANAM there in the first place. It's obviously not needed.

I just tried it and it works, I attach the two esps if you want to make a try. Dirty introduces a dummy branch, forcing the value of Knockdown's sibling. Inside Clean.esp, I edited that value via FNVEdit, instead of deleting it as you usually do, forcing it to Null again just like in the vanilla ESM (see jpg). As result, if Clean is loaded after Dirty on the LO, it "cleans" it. EDIT: about the Sibling thing. Keep in mind I've read it on a russian website with Google translator, so you figure... I interpreted that the animation system in FONV needs a fallback animation when "Return file" is checked, something like if it can't find the file it will automatically fallback on the Sibling specified in that field. But as I said, take it as it is... anims.7z

When must return file is checked, if the animation doesn't have a file, it's as if that animation failed it's condition check, so it moves on to the next sibling, or back to the parent and then the parents next sibling. In any case, that fallback works even without that ANAM set, and as I said, when I go to playidle this will all go away.
Guest Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Really not hard to believe, translation was really messed up so I really can't count on that. But still, are you 100% sure it works without ANAM? I never tested it, but I can tell you this: I create a custom SpecialIdle inside anim menu (I never set that sibling, so I guess that field is automatically empty for my custom ones. Important to say, the kf is not LOOP, it is CLAMP, like for morphs). Then, I don't link it to a file. Now, if I playidle it in game, as consequence usually the animation gets in a busy state, like if the action starts but it doesn't find a file so it can't finish (because CLAMPed animations can't be interrupted in any ways, that's the culprit of this behaviour), it doesn't allow me to invoke anymore animations and it gets stuck until I don't force reset it with that method I told you once, using Playgroup Idle, etc. That's why I was thinking the purpose of the ANAM was avoiding that whole situation, many vanilla animations are CLAMP and not LOOP and I doubt you can force reset it without using console. Need to make some more tests some day. Anyway, changing subject, if you want take a look at that Clean.esp, if it works properly for the problem of the Knockdown it wouldn't be bad sticking it in some top post in the technical section, for those who don't want to investigate and clean which mod creates the issue. You see problems involving Knockdown are soooo frequent.

I had the same problem with broken animations/conflicts where they'd stand in the /same/ spot for the duration. (Oh god the horror of the twofaced dickbutt vaginasshole manwoman) After dismantling everything several times and over several days(uninstalling a 190 mod-list several times... nitpicking over ever overwritten file, since I suck at FNVedit[seriously, NVEC is a lifesaver for both modspace, and making more mods compatible then I'd ever be able to make play nice by myself]) I narrowed it down to between Sexout and For the Enclave. (I already had all of the FCO esms/esps disabled as per Sexout's own instructions) I disabled enclavebunker.esm, enclavebunker.esp; and it worked perfectly. However...no. For the Enclave is too cool an addition to the game for me to be happy without it. (No matter how better Sexout is to Animated Prostitution[Although the pre-sex dialog choices from Innuendo respectively blows both of them outta the water]) Much to my chargin, I found both this site and this thread post-moddeggedon. So on a wing and a prayer I tried nouseforaname4 's load order he posted (post #8) and it worked. I don't have all the same mods as him but, Moving FCOMaster.esm(=0 on mine, not sure if it'll work when enabled, didn't try yet) directly above sexout.esm and then moving enclavebunker.esm directly above FCOMaster.esm. Then I dropped enclavebunker.esp to last in my load order just above my patches/weapon mods. (the most important part being having it below all of the Sexout.esps) Successfully tested with PC and Sunny Smiles in the Goodsprings Salon. The reward being a wonderfully rendered titjob. I mean... the sex isn't /thattttt/ vigorous, (but maybe its there as workaround of a system that makes it unavoidable? Haven't delved any deeper into the fallout code than I've absolutely had to, my offical knowledge of code/scripts begins and ends at being fluent in Java programming and lol'ing at Scratch).
ljacquard Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Well, I can say this : 1/ I managed to fix the issue I had with Sexout by restoring an old archive with Amra animations (forgot to post about it here). Since the latest SexoutNG already contains all of Amra's updated animations, I managed to pinpoint the culprit down to... the missing Sexout bodysuit. I do not use Breeze's bodies anymore (prefer Roberts), do not want to use BSAs that replace stock resources (may lead to crashes in Oblivion, not sure about FNV, but better safe than sorry), so I had discarded the Breeze BSA that came with Sexout altogether. Entirely my fault! *hangs head in shame* 2/ I can vouch with 99,99% money-back guarantee that FCO does not conflict in any manner whatsoever with Sexout. In fact, I'd heartidely recommend it as one of the better mods for FNV (and definitely the best NPC replacer). One can even keep the load order that BOSS recommends, I do without issues so far. PS : I also got very good feedback about "For the enclave [ v3.04 ]-39531.7z". I've finished/stabilized my load order for this game, but will definitely consider it for my next playthrough. Thanks for sharing your piece of mind about it, I'm sure it will prove useful to me.

No, it's better to follow the instructions. I agree it's crucial to read them. It's by going back to the instructions that I managed to fix my problem. FONV is not OBV. A great many things are different. What fundamental differences do you see (EDIT : for the end-user/modder like me) between modding Oblivion and modding FNV, graphical engine aside ? I seem to be successfully using the same techniques and almost the same tools (Wrye, BOSS, xEdit, Ordenator, ENB, heap optimizers, etc.) than for Oblivion. I would be genuinely be interested, as I have a hard time collecting data about that. For example, I was wondering what kind of FNV meshes pyFFI could work with, for example. Well, I might be over-cautious, but wouldn't recommend keeping the same file in two different BSAs with the same timestamp, even for FNV : Timestamp - Name of the BSA - Name of the file inside the BSA 2006/01/01 - <Fallout - Meshes.bsa> - \meshes\characters\_male\femaleupperbody.nif 2006/01/01 - <Sexout - T6M.bsa> - \meshes\characters\_male\femaleupperbody.nif This is the setup all the Wrye Flash users like me have, by the way, because the tool automatically redates all the BSAs to 2006/01/01. The feature can be disabled in <bash.ini>, but I think very few users do, or even know about that file. On Oblivion, the above is known to generate CTDs. In FNV, it might not crash, but how would the engine know which one it needs to load ? I do not know how other mod managers handle BSAs, but if you don't manage their timestamps, I would think you risk other issues in-game, assets failing to properly overriding each other being one.

There are credits for those that are known (people who contributed after I took over sexout) in the download thread changelog spoiler. What fundamental differences do you see I can't give an exhaustive list. Archive Invalidation (and the BSA handling) is one of the bigger ones. You never have to toggle it off and on in FONV -- once it's on, it's on for good unless you disable it. Another is that in FONV, you don't need some 'fake' ESP to cause assets from the BSA for your ESM to be loaded. GECK wiki pages that have copied material from the CK wiki must be taken with a grain of salt if they say something can't be done or doesn't work, as many bugs were fixed in the engine. I can't help with the python stuff. On Oblivion, the above is known to generate CTDs. In FNV, it might not crash, but how would the engine know which one it needs to load ? That will not CTD in FONV. In FONV an asset is only ever searched for and loaded once. The overall engine search order is: 1. Use the asset if I already have it in memory, from anywhere. 2. Search loose files for the asset (if AI is on, as it always should be). 3. Search the BSAs, ordered by timestamp (not just datestamp -- you didn't include file times in your list). The plugin name is also relevant to loading from a BSA if the engine gets to step 3. I believe the engine only searches the BSAs that are listed in the INI file and those with a prefix matching the plugin name that triggered the search. For example renaming "Sexout - Breezes.bsa" to "Breezes.bsa" will cause it to always be skipped until a Breezes.esp/esm is present in the load order. Also assets referenced in Sexout.esm will only trigger searches in BSAs that are listed in the INI file or whos names start with "Sexout". I'm a bit fuzzy on this filename part, but I think that this is what I remember from when I was creating the BSAs a year or two ago. I do not know how other mod managers handle BSAs, but if you don't manage their timestamps, I would think you risk other issues in-game, assets failing to properly overriding each other being one. I don't believe they manage the timestamps because the user-created BSAs always have a newer timestamp than the vanilla ones. It's something I'll put on the todo list for FOMM though, since I'm maintaining that as well.
