What does the NVSE file store in the SaveGame folder?

See my posts in this thread for more information:  http://www.loverslab.com/topic/34315-i-broke-my-sexout-save-no-animations/?p=876619

Basically I ran into a problem where SexOut stopped working all together.  I made no changes to any mods, no updates, no changes in load order...and I can reload prior saves and everything works fine.  At some point SexOut got hung up in one of my recent save files and it was several hours later that I realized this happened (I was working on the main story line and not engaging in any sex acts, so it was awhile before I noticed a problem).  Basically anytime I tried to engage in a SexOut sex act, the NPC would go through the normal dialog, and when it came time for the animation to occur nothing would happen.

In any case, I found that I can remove this NVSE file linked to one of the broken save games, reload the save and SexOut starts working again.  If I put the NVSE file back in the animations no longer play again.  My question is...what kind of side effects are there from letting New Vegas recreate this NVSE file from scratch?  From what I can tell it hasn't broken any existing quests, I still have my items from the Wolf Cave Breeder quest that I did prior as well as Fenris.  I'm just worried that if I allow this NVSE file to be recreated from scratch it's going to break something later down the line...I don't know what all it stores or what it's used for.

Among other things, it stores strings and arrays that are used by some mods like Sexout. Removing the nvse file can create problems if the mods expect that data to still be there, especially in the case of information that is kept there as some sort of mod-wide 'library' (eg some of Spunk's arrays) that is not updated on every game load. Spunk for instance only updates those with every version update, not every game load, so removing the nvse file will require you to do a clean save of Spunk so that it can build that library again before doing anything else. Something similar may apply to sexoutNG, SA etc.

Thanks for the reply, DoctaSax.

So...it looks like I have two options at this point.  I can reload an older save and lose 10-15 hours of work, or I can take a chance and leave the fresh NVSE file in with a more recent save and hope that nothing breaks after some possible work creating clean saves....hmm.
