Because I'm tired of having to wait for a "good" non-nexus MM for Skyrim, and have been too spoiled by FOMM features to bother with the "lite" one or OBMM.. I have started another project. As if I didn't already have enough to do.

Just a teaser screenshot right now. Goal is to get it to the point that it can manage these "top 4" beth games as well as FOMM does for FONV, then make it a little bit better.

Thread (now) is for feature requests and for people to bug me to keep working on it if I start slacking off.

Your idea #3 looks great, hadn't thought of that but it's a good idea. Something more than the simple yes/no during install of conflicts -- like let it present a list of conflicting files all at once, and you can choose which ones to install from the new mod. That sound right?

#1 is a definite 'yes', same as FOMM currently works, more or less.

#2, I need more details on what you mean. Are you talking about the same system from the link? I like that idea, and associating and managing savegames along with a profile. Not difficult to do.

That download isn't really "modder friendly", but I do like some of the ideas and may steal a few.

Also I intend to leave the thing running (not exit) when starting the game. This will let it watch for the game to exit and then copy the savegames to the 'hidden' profile dir to keep all that up to date. Also less of a headache for us modders -- I don't like having to keep restarting fomm all the time when working on mods and doing testing.

Well, none of those features were my ideas, I just mentioned the three I liked best from that mod organizer.

#3 Well, what he did as far as I can understand is somewhat different but yours sounds more feature complete, so a very definite yes.

#2 same as the link.

#1 since I have forgotten how the game folder looks without any mods I somewhat missed that it was the same in FOMM (I don't exclusively use FOMM so it's my bad actually).

I'm going to go a step beyond FOMM and have a built in list of what files should be present, along with file hashes, so if you want it to the program can 'reset' the data directory to default -- or as close as it can get.

It won't be able to help with vanilla files overwritten manually, but it will at least be able to tell you which ones are there, and remove non-vanilla files. A last ditch attempt to get you back to good if everything is broken and you think a reinstall is the only way to fix it.

Looks interesting. I've been using wrye bash for skyrim and it can at the best be a handful even if you've been using it for years.

One thing you might want to consider is allowing BOSS support, at least sometime down the road.

BOSS is a pretty simple system, I do intend to support it.

I haven't ever used wrye for anything, and from what I've seen, it's very powerful but also very player-unfriendly. My goal here is to get something easy to use for players, not replace existing "power tools" for those that need a deluxe swiss army knife.

FOMM is almost perfect for my needs, but I haven't heard anyone say that a skyrim version will be forthcoming, so I decided I may as well roll up my sleeves and get to it. When I started the first thing I thought was "well hell, may as well support the other games as well". Whenever I go mess around in oblivion/OBSE, I miss FOSE features, so supporting the existing games (and future ones as well) in a single app seemed like the logical thing to do.

Again, FOMM started this with having dual support for both FO3 and FONV. If it also had oblivion and skyrim support I wouldn't be wasting my time. ;)

It does sound like a wonderful program and I, like you doubt that a skyrim version of FOMM will see the light of day as the crapsus site views it as competition to their crappy mod manager program.

I wish you the best of luck :)

In that case I'm almost certainly going to release it over there as well. I didn't intend to, but if you think it'll piss them off while not breaking a single rule, I'd love to see them yell at me about it. ;)

Now THAT will be a ROFL moment!!!!!!!

Damn, oops I just pre-ROFL'd just thinking about you releasing it there and making them all kinds of angry!!!!

We shall have to mobilize the troops to see if we can't get it voted the most popular mod for the month just to add insult to injury!!!! :)

Sounds good to me :)

I just discovered (should have looked first) that FOMM is OSS (GPLv2). I'm going to fork that and use it as a starting point instead, still under the new name though since it's not 'fallout' only, and to avoid confusion about versions.

C#.. haven't really messed with that much, but it's as good a time to learn as any. ;)
