windu190 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Edit: If anyone shares the same predicament, feel free to use this thread Now, I don't usually do this to find a movie but I'm out of options. A long time ago I once saw a movie (taking place in the wild west). I only saw like the last part of it and only recently I started looking for it again. The problem is that I don't know the name or any of the actors. So trying to find it is almost impossible. The only thing I know (and quite vividly remember) is the last part of the movie, which I will describe below. Description: A large group of people (presumably mercenaries) attack a wooden cottage with a few guys inside. The attack is overseen by an old man (from a safe distance of course) wearing a black hat. The few people inside the house put up a valliant resistance even though they are vastly outnumbered (the mercs even drive a burning carriage into the cottage in an attempt to burn them out). In the meantime, A horserider is getting reinforcements as fast as possible. Eventually the reinforcements arrive (outnumbering the attackers) but not before the people inside the cottage are killed, they arrived just too late. This is all I know about the movie so you can imagine finding it is pretty difficult. Searching "cowboys attack cottage main character dies" doesn't really yield promising results on google
Vacaliga Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Young guns would be my best bet. Shame you didn't ask this 5years ago or i could have asked my old man, he was kinda a western fanatic.
jxm Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Western is not really my specialty, but I love trying to find stuff throguh google (weird hobby?). I know how you feel, it took me years until I found a rather weird and lame horror-movie on youtube that somehow was stuck in my head since childhood, with Nazis in some old castle during the war and an lovecraftian evil getting resurrected. However, what might help finding this movie is: How did the last scenes look like in terms of age? Was it a western of the 50ties black and white classical era? A dirty Spagetthi-Western from Italy? Looked it rather "smooth" and modern, like young guns? I looked that one up though, it has Jack Palance in Black and most of them die getting shot by a gatling in the end, and the house burns but somehow it doesn't fully fit the description Narrowing it down in terms of production-age, at least roughly, could help a lot
windu190 Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Unfortunately it's not Young Guns. As for the production age, it's definitely pre 2000. Considering the video quality I guess it was made in either the 80's or the 90's. It's definitely not one of the old spaghetti western movies from the 50's or 60's. It also didn't take place in a town, but on farmland.
...0... Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Palerider, unforgiven, tombstone,Silverado or wyatt earp so many it's realy difficult find the one you seek. Unforgiven Clint Eastwood-Morgan Freeman one of my favorite westerns. I love some of classics also like the Wild bunch. Jimmy Steward-Burt Lancaster-Lee Marvin-Gary Cooper few of great black and white actors in westerns.
lizsummers Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Ok this is convenient. I've had a movie that I can't remember so I'm gonna ask it here.. In New Mexico, Nevada, or some desert-looking area like that there's some vampire hunters. There's a scene in a bar or a strip club or something where teh vampires attack the group, and one uses mind control to make a priest shoot himself with a shotgun (That scene's quite vividly in my mind >_>) The main plot is that these vampires have a black crucifix that will make it possible for them to survive in daylight. (Spoiler alert, I guess?) and at the end there are the 2 main vampire hunters left, one of them's fallen in love with a girl who was bitten, and he calls the other vampire hunter and tells him to come hunt him down because he knows he'll be turned.

I guess this could be a good thread for anyone who shares me predicament. And you're in luck, because I know that movie. It's called: Vampires (1998) IMDB Page @AvasiaDutch Thanks for the list, will check if my movie is in there somewhere
RunicGray Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Windu, did you post this on Yahoo Answers as well, by chance? I was just googling and found it. XD
windu190 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 Windu, did you post this on Yahoo Answers as well, by chance? I was just googling and found it. XD Yep I did, no luck there I'm afraid :/ Eventually the question dropped so far down the list no one practically looked at it anymore, so I tried my luck here.
...0... Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Do have any clue what actors or actress play in movie you seek?
RitualClarity Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 There are a bunch of movies listed on this youtube video. Some are 80's , 90,s Might give you some references to research. A nice link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Western_films_of_the_1990s Give even more specificly 90's remove the sci fi you might be able to find it.
windu190 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 Not on that list either, it's like this movie vanished into thin air
RitualClarity Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Or it really isn't completely a western... That list movie and wiki has movies that aren't even classic westerns. Also we are thinking it is an American based movie. Could be a good voice over. Mad Max is one such movie. Many don't realize that the version originally released were dubbed for " American" viewers. Also what is a "long time ago I saw " entail. Some a long time ago is 5 years, others could be 25 years ago. That might help as well. Along with where did you see it. On some tv show or web etc. it's like this movie vanished into thin air There are many movies that vanish into thin air. My sister had a bitch of a time to find and get a hold of a unicorn movie that she loved when she was a kid. Took her almost a year to find it and she new the title and everything about it.
jxm Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Usually, sooner or later you'll maybe stumble upon it by sheer accident ...
windu190 Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 With a long time ago I mean about 12-14 years. And yes I'm also starting to think it might not be a western, or at least not an american one (maybe european). It definitely took place in the same age, since they dressed like cowboys and used old revolvers and minchester rifles (or similar rifles) but it's probably not a typical western (I probably would have found it already if it was).
RitualClarity Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Heaven's Gate (1980) The western that almost destroyed Hollywood.

Let Me Guess: The Last Unicorn? Rankin/Bass I'm a 20 year old guy, and I still love that movie, ever since I was 8 or so.
windu190 Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Heaven's Gate (1980) The western that almost destroyed Hollywood. Well I'll be damned, that's the one.
...0... Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Heaven's Gate a total flop hehe. Well grats you finally have your movie
RitualClarity Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Heaven's Gate (1980) The western that almost destroyed Hollywood. Well I'll be damned, that's the one. Yep... when you stated the time frame. It gave me some better reference and about 5 minutes of searching I found it. Had I watched westerns I most likely would been able to tell you off the bat... I am such a loser. Your reference focused on the 90's. Not the 80's. In fact that movie was even started in the late 70's and only was completed in the 80's. Oh,... wait .. no rep for finding it . LOL

She wanted the dvd release. At least I believe it was that little unico. Could be wrong. It looked something like that. An example of how movies can drop off the map. Have you seen Dr. Butcher? I spit on your Grave? C.H.U.D? It's Alive? Much less its sequels. Many times there isn't enough interest or the correct permissions to transfer them from VHS to DVD or beyound. The old copies die ( releases) the master copies get damaged, lost, stolen, ( like many of the old Hollywood classics) and it cannot be recovered. Many of the Dr. Who first films are like that. The masters are lost and copies are bad or just not available.
Redflyingmonkey Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 so not luck much sad many sorry Doge very cry Talking about it, I also have a movie I've never been able to find, and just like you Doge I just remember what is going on but not who is doing what is going on if you know what I mean ! It's an asian kung fu movie, I only remember the start where there is some sort of gang battle going on with people dressed like in the 50s. Then all of a sudden who I believe is the main character jumps over some cars and kick most of the gang members asses. I also remember that it was raining and that the quality of the footage made me believe it was a movie made pretty recently. Halph meh
