best way to merging mods?

Hi all,

 

I tried several times to merge some or all of my mods together, first with wyre smash (but that is just merging several mods together what it is thinks it's mergeable.)

Then I tried to use tessedit, but somewhere I made a mistake and all of my mods became corrupted.

Also when I just reinstalled them the created patch didn't work.

 

But once and ever again I hit the 255 mod limit and it is became really annoying because there are lot of good small mods there but I can't use them because all I can think of is like this mod is worth the space?

 

If I could breach the limit, then...

 

What do you think which is the easiest (and working )way to merge some or all of the mods into one esp?

Were you uisng the merge script that came with TES5Edit? If so, that one isn't so good. The one I linked does a far better job of merging mods.

Yay....thank you so much.

Yesterday I merged a whole lot, I could reduce my esps with 20.

However when I tried to merge followers, all the overhaul mods(beautiful followers) worked fine, but standalone followers like Sara the mystic knight, zt followers and skymaidens or whatever got messed up.

They turned up ingame but their head was more dark and their face was ugly.

I checked, no BSAs. It is looks like an ECE error, but why?

Sky maidens come with In game body changer: UNP / CBBE Standard package,CBBE BBP / SeveNBase BombShell BBP package,ADEC BBP / UNP Blessed BBP package,CBBE Slim / Dream Girl package...there is possibility that your body mesh doesn't correspond with the mods and base body, so Wrye can't merge them properly. Wrye also have error check possibility as Tes5edit, so you can check your mods with it. I have several different custom made followers with various body types (all ranges of UNP) bodies, and Wrye did a great job for me.

 

Listen, I'm sorry, I know what I want to say, I just do not know how. My English is limited as terminology in this area. So all this what I'm saying maybe doesn't have a sense to you. Maybe you can post your problem under a new thread?

Not all mod are happy being merged with the TES5Edit merge script. Avoid mods that are required by other mods as dependencies (Mod Organizer will show this in the load order pane, LOOT will tell you after the merge once you disable the plugin). Avoid mods with MCM menus as merging may cause the menu not to be available. Absolutely avoid merging mods that edit the same NavData as holes in Skyrim and general weirness will ensue.

The error check option in TES5Edit won't detect properly unless you exit TES5Edit and the relaunch the editor loading just the new merged plugin and then selecting check for errors.

They turned up ingame but their head was more dark and their face was ugly.

I checked, no BSAs. It is looks like an ECE error, but why?

Taking a guess here since I haven't used the merging script for TESVEDit myself yet, but your face problem sounds like a facegeom/facetint issue.

 

If the merged esp has a new name, you might need to move the tint and meshfiles from their old locations to the new one.

 

like move/copy the .dds from

D:\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Textures\Actors\character\facegendata\facetint\cerwidencompanion.esp

 

to a new folder with your merged esp as the foldername

 

D:\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Textures\Actors\character\facegendata\facetint\"Merged ESP Name".esp

 

for the face tints.

 

and move/copy the .nif from

 

D:\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Meshes\Actors\character\FaceGenData\Facegeom\CerwidenCompanion.esp

 

to a new folder with your merged esp as the foldername

 

D:\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Meshes\Actors\character\FaceGenData\Facegeom\"Merged ESP Name".esp

 

for the meshes.

 

I'm guessing the new merged esps are looking for the NPC head meshes and face tints but don't know they're still in their old folders.

Thank you Killikrates, yes I tried to avoid mods with MCM script or same worldspace edit. All of my merged mods working fine so far, and I am really cautious.

Also relight skyrim all files can be merged? I will give it a go.

Yeah maybe the ingame body changer messed the things up, but Victoria and zt followers doesn't have anything like that.

Sorry bout that, internet connection was acting up. Corrected my post above which might help with fixing your custom npc faces and face tints

 Oh MO, yeah that sounds a bit more complicated. You might need to create the new folders in the same location as where your merged esp and related files exist(?)

 

good luck with fixing that face mesh/tint problem.

Yes, I grouped mods either into logical groups (like Expanded Towns and Cities so I can re-merge with each frequent update) or by load order (early, middle, late to help LOOT keep them sorted). If you read up on TES5Edit you can do additional conflict resolution, carry forward changes despite LOOT order, and probably cut the number of merged plugins to one or two (that's still a work in progress for me, I need to study more).

For merging purposes I am using tess5edit not wyre.

Wyre is just for creating bashed patch.

Yeah I can see you have 30% same content as me.

So I will use those mods as a solid base (because you already merged them so they are "safe" and try to wrap my other mods around them.:)

Thank you guys for everyone.

I just created a merged package with 13 mods in it. I checked all ingame. All working fine.

So with this method I think I created at least 30 free space on top of my existing 255 mods.

Thank you very much...now I can start looking for new mods, I think my problem is solved.
