Monsto Brukes Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I've found out the hard way that ECE and RM are not entirely compatible. They do not cause problems with each other, which is goodish, but if you build with one, the other won't notice or care. Which means if you want to switch apps, you pretty much have to start over. . . or do you? And that's my question here. . . Is there a way to xfer a build from one to the other?
NoxTM Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Short answer. No - at least not that i know. However - it's pretty easy to rebuild your character in RaceMenu (if you used ECE before) since, as far as i know, the new versions of RaceMenu (2.7+) does have the ECE sliders included. The only thing you gonna miss is the Vertex Edit, which ofc means that you wont be able to recreate your character in RaceMenu when you used Vertex Edit to create it. Anyway - the mod author is working on a Vertex Edit (Sculpt Mode) for RaceMenu so that wont be an issue anymore when it's done.
yatol Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 install ece install racemenu, but don't load the esp move a slider and it load your ece head
greg079 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 i use an older version of Racemenu, (v2.5.0 i believe, but don't quote me) and i have the ECE slider addon for the old version. however it doesn't have the features of newer versions of ECE. to get to the point, i load the game with ECE's skse dll file removed from my plugins, and make my character, then save. later i go back in, having added the ECE dll back into the skse plugins, and make any edits that racemenu doesn't have. 2 warning with anyone who tries to replicate my method. 1st many Racemenu sliders will cause a crash after adding the ECE dll. 2nd adding the ECE dll is a one-way-operation, ECE dependent saves WILL CTD without the ECE dll. anyway i'm gonna upgrade to the new Racemenu 2.8.1, hopefully without problems ('course, for as long as i've been modding, i'm smart enough to make backups)
Monsto Brukes Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 install ece install racemenu, but don't load the esp move a slider and it load your ece head Alright this is . . . weird. I'm using Familiar Faces which uses a RM base, and says right in the docs that it won't work with ECE. Funny thing. . . it seems that instead of trying to make it work, it detects ECE data, and throws an ole-lady-gramma head and skin on the char. Not at ALL desirable, but funny as fuck. Anyway, that's the problem using Familiar Faces, I have some chars built with ECE, some with older RM. I loaded RM, but disengaged the .esp, and the RM saved presets have the ECE data that i tried to save in there before I realized that the faces were all Breton looking. The faces are the ECE faces, in the RM save slots... so i have a hybrid . . . but still cannot "convert" them... i'm just kinda using one set of data in another app without the ability to make it native data. Which, unless someone can come up with something creative, I don't think is possible.
ElPsyCongroo Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Seems that some old version of RM can work with ECE well but the newest ones can't, so I have not updated RM for a long time
NoxTM Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Yes - the last version of RM which is "compatible" with ECE is version 2.5. Only thing you need to do is load RM after ECE. @ElPsyCongroo - awesome signature Kinda looks similar to one of my evil characters
Monsto Brukes Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 working at the same time is different than what i'm talking about. If you build with one, the data won't xfer to the other. If there was some kinda interim, like hahah like xml export/import or something, well that's the holy grail now aint it.
