Combining meshes

Recommended Posts

How would I combine two meshes, like putting a spoon in a bowl or cigarette butts in an ashtray? I assume it is blender and or nifskope but I am not sure how to do it. I have a little knowledge of the two. I want the end result to be movable in game with all the parts moving as one.

You could try to use nifskope to do it by loading up what you want to add to the nif right click it go to block - copy branch. Then use transform - edit and play with the translation rotations to move it to where you want it at. Once you get it to where you want it at save as. You will have to use something like mesh rigger to re-rig the thing that you moved because when you move something in a nif it will mess up the rigging and a item will not show up in the correct spot till it is re-rigged.

What is mesh rigger?

Tried mesh rigger. It looks like that is just for character bodies.

I am trying to attach a misc mesh to another misc mesh. Specifically I want to put a cigarette butt into an ashtray and then be able to allow my character to move this "new" object around in game as a single piece. So far I have successfully added butts to ashtrays and they look fine in the geck, but in game they always fall thru the ashtray and respond as separate pieces.  I want them to be "stuck" in the ashtray.

Come on. I know one of you brilliant geck-o-files or blender-isimos know how this is done. Shed some light on a really lunk headed gamer.

NifSkope. It's best to use a tutorial. This one seems to do exactly what you want: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/98-static-mashups-in-nifskope/ In this particular tutorial they put several rolled up carpets inside a wheelbarrow.

Good luck! Let us know how it works out. :)

That tutorial says two static items. I want the end result to be mobile like the two items already were. Although I will try it and see what happens. Thanks for the direction.

No that just works for static objects.
