loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Hi all I am relatively new to doing mods and of course I ran into several issues which I have tried to resolve, including a complete, clean re-install of the game, re-installing all mods 1 by 1, restarting the game, and still can't get it to work. I searched google and various threads on various forums, but can't seem to find the answers which I am looking for. I am sure they are somewhere, but as I said, I am still new to this so perhaps I am looking in wrong places or using wrong terms etc. So if anyone could help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated. I am currently on another clean re-install of the game and I will keep this thread up to hopefully get everything going until I get a somewhat stable, playable game. I will go ahead and list my current problems, then go ahead and add to this thread as I run into them installing the mods. So here goes: 1. SexLabsFramework is not recognized by the game and/or Zaz animations. I have tried different load orders, one or the other 1st, and re-installed both latest versions (sexlab framework 157 and zaz 552 ) just in case something got corrupted, and still same thing, Mostly game just goes to CTD, problem is focused on Sex Labs Framework, sometimes it doesn't even come up in the SkyUI menu at all. Sometimes it comes up but Zaz can't find it to register. Funny thing is, it detects rest of the SexLabs based mods just fine, but not the framework. So could someone let me know which should be 1st in the load order, or what could be causing this ? Again I have re-installed SexLabsFramework multiple times to no avail. Thanks
Guest Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I'm not an expert at the way SexLab Framework technically works together with the game and other mods, but did you install FNIS and perform a behavior update? In my experience, when I first started getting into the SexLab mods, I learned to only install SkyUI, FNIS, and SexLab Framework first. Start the game and (if it does not break of course) create a new save. Then start installing the rest of them one by one and making a new save in between each new mod, SexLab or not...but you may have mentioned that you are testing this method already? As far as load order - in my case I have ZaZ Animation Pack ESM right before the SexLab ESM. I've read that it's best to keep animation mods early on the load order list. Again, I'm not a pro at this though, but this is how I have it and I haven't had a problem at all.
Pavaux Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Use LOOT. It completely corrects your load order, it has done for me anyway. Could not even have the patience for mods if this didn't exist.
laSeek Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Are you using a mod helper like MO (Mod Organiser) or NMM? MO is the best imho & helps keep your main skyrim install clean. The install instructions for sexlab vary abit on the forums - this is the most current & accurate I believe. There are issues with MO & DLL's - so you'll need to drag them from mods like sexlab into your skyrim/data/skse/plugins folder manually as well as installing the mod into MO. See if the linky I posted helped first - if not I found I had better skyrim stability by using the ENB helper. Lemme know if you want a link for it
loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I have SKSE, SkyUI, FNIS, all correctly installed, all latest versions. Tried LooT for sorting, same results, no difference, also I tried both NMM and manual installations. I prefer not to use NMM as I would like to use some mods that NMM does not support, and as stated I am not a modder or programmer, so its a huge pita for me to get NMM working with all that. In addition, I don't know how to get NMM to work with local mods, not ones downloaded from nexus.
Pavaux Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 In addition, I don't know how to get NMM to work with local mods, not ones downloaded from nexus. Simply go to the "Mods" tab and the very top puzzle piece on the left hand side is how to install manual mods ( such as Schlongs Of Skyrim ). It should say "Add mod from file" if you hover over it with your mouse. It should bring you to a browse, usually in your downloads section, if not, navigate there. Simply double click any mod in the downloads (or wherever your downloads go) section that is a .zip or a .rar file. It should say "Adding mod to file in the NMM and the mod will be placed in "Unassigned" category. Activate done. If a mod tells you specifically that it does not work with NMM then don't use this method.
loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 OK I installed SexLabsFramework, Zaz, and XPMS using NMM. So these 3 + SKSE, FNIS and SkyUI are the only mods I have currently running, nothing else. Generated FNIS via the desktop shortcut as required. SexLabsFramework and Zaz are not showing in the game within SkyUI menus. Also, the data files are now not showing when I check via regular launcher, whereas they used to when I just manually installed these mods on previous attempts. When Installing, I clicked "OK" instead of manual, should I re-install using the "manual" button ? Also, in NMM, the 3 mods are listed on left hand side, should they be checked or unchecked ? I don't understand the purpose of this, or how I should launch the game now, via NMM ? Via the SKSE desktop shortcut ?
Pavaux Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 They MUST be checked in order for them to be actually activated. The whole checkbox thing is pointless to me but if you uncheck them they don't activate. Hopefully this should solve your problem. SKSE shortcut always, NMM has an option to execute it from the manager but I don't often play it from there.
Ashkandii Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 1) use Loot 2) Check Plugins 3) if your using alternative start, choose ur character and starter zone, then wait for it to load if it doesent load then u have a shit-ton of Scripts running at once. sometimes it takes me couple minutes to load things like SexLab Aroused and Sanguine's Debauchery
loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 OK, started loading everything correctly, only thing that bugs me, is that the directory where the archived mods are kept, and where NMM unloads them to is one and the same, or is NMM referring to the archived mod directory as "Download Directory" ? Should I change the 2 directories then ?
loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Hmm, which is a better skeleton to use XPMS or CHSBHC ? Going mainly with CBBE. Also, if I were to install UNP will it conflict with CBBE ? There are some mods that I was looking at which want UNP only, but I will stay away from them, if I have to choose I will stay with CBBE, feedback appreciated.
nutluck Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Most stuff seems to work with xpms as the preferred skeleton. It has more or less become the default skeleton for animations. Also for sexlab to work correctly you do need to use SKSE 1.7 version just as a FYI. Since I didn't see it mentioned what version of SKSE you was using. CBBE and UNP are just body mesh and texture mods they have no effect on the skeleton and will work with any skeleton. They are totally different bodies, you can only use one of them. Just pick the one you like the most, it is mostly a matter of personal taste. Though there is some nice mods that only work with one or the other.
loopie Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I use SKSE 1.7, everything I got has been re-downloaded yesterday, latest versions, will stay with CBBE then as I have tried UNP before and CBBE just seemed to look better. Now one thing that I see somewhat odd. If I remember correctly XPMS is the 242 bone skeleton ? Or around there ? My FNIS (also latest version 5.0.2) is not finding it. It is using the default game skele with 99 bones. I did not have this issue when I was installing the mods without NMM, FNIS found it right away, now it doesn't. Also, when I try to install the FNIS Behavior 5.0.2 via NMM I get a message : "No Game Data On Top Level" so I installed it manually. So I am having issues using NMM for this, and its why I stayed away from it until now, how do I fix this so that I don't get this message and FNIS installs properly via NMM and then detects the XPMS and other mods properly ?
nutluck Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Honestly I just manually downloaded XPMS and then had NMM install it from my mod folder I keep of mods I download manually. After that I just ran FNIS and it found xpms skeleton just fine. Can you copy and paste your FNIS output?
loopie Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Ok, seemsI am going forward, now stuck on ApachiiHairFemales.esm I have no idea which Apachii hair mod contains this file and I tried many. Googled it and read a lot of useless stuff, except nothing tells which mod exactly and precisely contains ApachiiHairFemales.esm So if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it Thanks
nutluck Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Ok, seemsI am going forward, now stuck on ApachiiHairFemales.esm I have no idea which Apachii hair mod contains this file and I tried many. Googled it and read a lot of useless stuff, except nothing tells which mod exactly and precisely contains ApachiiHairFemales.esm So if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it Thanks Apachii hair mod has 3 files. 1 file has all the hairs, then it has one for males and one for females. Some mods never updated to call for the complete file and still call for one of the single hair files. So just go to the mod and download the female one and add it. I use one mod that does the same thing.
loopie Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 No the reason I asked specifically for this file was because 2 mods I got required it according to LOOT, but in the end I gave up. I downloaded and re-downloaded all Apachii mods latest versions, main full, NPC overhauls, female, male overhauls etc. searched the archives manually, nothing, zip, zero, so I gave up and uninstalled the 2 mods. However, now I am stuck on SexLabsFramework. Basically, what is happening is that I think it is loaded, but its not showing in the SkyUI menus, all the add ons are, but not the framework itself. I have a total of 13 things including the SkyUI config, so thats 12 mods + SkyUI. I was wondering if there is perhaps a limit on how many mods you can have in that menu and what can I do about it, if anything, or if there is something else I can use for SexLabsFramework config. Zaz animation picked it up and registered it, it is correct in my load order, even checked it with regular launcher. Its a new game so I haven't gotten to a town yet, want to get it at least mostly stable before I do that. Just can't figure out why its not showing in the SkyUI. Thanks
begalund Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Suggestions: #1 See if you can install and use Mod Organizer. It will make your life installing mods much easier. Trust me. available on the nexus and relatively easy to use. There are also youtube videos on getting it up and running. took me all of about 2 hours to get everything in place and running. Plus, it will make manual installs, uninstalls, upgrades, etc, a snap. That whole set of warnings you typically get about make sure you have a clean save before upgrading - and everything? virtually not needed with MO. typically all that is required is making sure you aren't in the middle of running an active script before upgrading since MO is much better about installing cleanly. However, it is only a suggestion. #2. Apachii is three mods as you have seen, but most other mods that rely on them as a base only need 2 of them. Apachii skyhair and apachii female. You'd need to install both, and they are separate. #3. FNIS is 2 (or 3 depending if you pick up the creature add on) mods. They are unique in how they are installed, as each and every time you add or change a mod that relies on animation you need to rerun the "generate FNIS for users" file (which btw you can configure MO to set up as a executable button). #4. I don't know if it will help, but I'm including my load order. It currently works just fine for me - although obviously there are some things in it you aren't using, and I've got a lot of mods I'm either testing or just playing around with. But I've got the big ones you are looking at, and in an order that runs stable. loopie Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Well, am on my 3rd day or so and I do use NMM, latest version, same difference slightly better, I am going to give it one more shot tomorrow then give up if I cant get everything going. The major difference I see here is that I did not install any of the unofficial patches, since I thought the game has been out long enough t get patched by the devs and those wouldno longer be needed. Should I try 1 more time with those ? Is it worth it or do they cause even more issues ?

Should I try 1 more time with those ? Is it worth it or do they cause even more issues ? Modding is tricky to learn. Honestly if you are having troubles what I would recommend is blank skyrim and start over. Then go watch Gopher's beginners guide to modding Skyrim youtube series. Watch the whole series and install mods while watching the video's pause them and do it step by step as he does them. By the end of the series you will have mastered the basics of modding Skyrim. If you have more questions or problems we will be more than happy to help you. But just saying Gopher did a great job covering the basics including step by step instructions during the video how to do everything. Here is a link to the playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DdhDG41roBVJfNCqvO5MmKP
begalund Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 The unofficial patches are definitely still worth it. Bethsoft might repair 1 thing but break something else. The unofficial patches fix almost everything - and they check cascading errors too. Fix thing A and also check that things B, C and D aren't broken because of it. So yes, get the unofficial patches (the main game patch plus whatever DLCs you have as well - dawnguard, dragonborn, hearthfire, highres texturepack).
loopie Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 All right, continuing, I have 1 major hurdle now, which started to happen yesterday at what seems to be a random while within the game. I made a post here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/32153-sexlabsframework-mcm-problem/ as that is also an applicable section and maybe some different solutions can be found from different users on the forums, but basically here it is in a nutshell: My SkyUI MCM all of a sudden stopped working with / detecting SexLabsFramework yesterday. Since then, I have tried the following steps to fix this, all without any results: 1. Sorted and re-sorted the load order, different load orders 2. Waited in the game for prolonged periods of time as sometimes it takes a while for it to register stuff (about 3-4 days gametime) 3. Used the SetStage command as outlined in the troubleshooting section of the SkyUI readme 4. Uninstalled whole game, deleted all preferences, ini, save files, everything restarted from complete scratch, basically deleted the whole Skyrim Directory and deleted whole Skyrim section under MyDocuments. 5. Deleted whole cache generated by NMM so it had to re-scan and restart from scratch as well. 6. Double and triple checked my SKSE installation 7. Double and triple checked my FNIS installation 8. Reinstalled both SexLabsFramework and SkyUI countless times including manual wipes of anything leftover. Nothing I have done works so far. Are there anymore leftover files anywhere on my hard drive that might affect this ? Or is there anything else that I can do about this ? The funny thing is MCM actually registers all the other SexLabs plugins I have, mainly TDFProstitution, Squirt and Cumshot, but not the Framework itself. So MCM works, no matter what I plug-in / install it picks it right up, except SexLabs main mod. Any ideas ? Really need help on this one
loopie Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Also, I got all the unofficial patches now, and the High Texture pack + the patch for it.
Pavaux Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Did you add the ini changes that you have to make for Sky-UI?
gvman3670 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Did you watch the tutorial series by Gopher. Please, if you've never used mods before watch the tutorials and follow along step by step. It will show you how to do this stuff. And it will make it seem simple. It's a far better option than asking here and people trying to type all this stuff out, step by step. Now go watch the tutorials and follow along. You'll get it, I promise. It's how I got started with modding Skyrim, too.
