PsychoMachina Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Started using LOOT after hearing it's better than BOSS. I launched LOOT using MO and did a test run using only the unofficial patches and some mods downloaded from Steam Workshop. Tried sorting my load order and the report shows an error. ERROR: Failed to calculate the load order. DETAILS: Cyclic interaction detected between plugins "Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp" and "Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp" The only explanation I could find is that each is dependent on the other (A depends on B depends on A) and that is why LOOT is unable to calculate a load order. Does anyone know of a solution?
hentaijin Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Make sure you have the unoffical patchs for skyrim and every DLC you have. Try deleting LOOTs settings and re-run itDelete the folder <User folder>\AppData\Local\LOOT for instance C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\LOOT you might also be interested inhttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23833 and I recommend http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24020 I use NMM, so if the error is related to MO I dunno.
PsychoMachina Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I was able to find the cause of the error. I didn't uninstall BOSS first, thinking LOOT was completely different from BOSS. After removing BOSS, LOOT was able to sort my load order without any errors.

TnTTnT Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I think BOSS will stopped at 2.2.0. BOSS 3.0 turned to LOOT.
Eikichi Onizuka Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I think BOSS will stopped at 2.2.0. BOSS 3.0 turned to LOOT. What are the benefits and the New improvements of LOOT compared to BOSS 2.2.0 ?
Ailsa Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I am using both BOSS and LOOT at the moment. I find that LOOT quickly tells me if a mod is dirty. I then check it with TESV Edit and find out from the mod's page what needs to be cleaned. So far so good.
TnTTnT Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I still prefer BOSS 2.2.0, maybe too old to get used to a new thing easily.
Eikichi Onizuka Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I still prefer BOSS 2.2.0, maybe too old to get used to a new thing easily. I understand it will, no longer BOSS masterlist updates in the future.. just LOOT will have them, so with the new mod you are forced to move to LOOT I have now over 50 mods that BOSS 2.2.0 does not recognize me..!
TnTTnT Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Yes, you are right. But BOSS 2.2.0 still have masterlist updated from time to time. I guess I can continue using it a little bit longer.
hentaijin Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 LOOT works differently than BOSS, but serve the same purpose. I can't tell you how it works, but over 50 mods that BOSS 2.2.0 does not recognize LOOT recognizes everything, somehow LOOT is better supported and stable now
johnny2by4 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 as i understand it, boss relied purely on a master list of mods to sort your load order. said master list was updated often but was often not up to date with new mods. loot uses a similar master list system, but is able to somewhat intelligently sort mods not already on the list based on the mod contents (example that it can detect an unknown mods master file and will push it below the master). coincidently, i have both boss and loot installed, and while i dont use boss anymore i've not seen a problem running loot.

Yes, you are right. But BOSS 2.2.0 still have masterlist updated from time to time. I guess I can continue using it a little bit longer. even a 5 year old children, it would be so simple, go quiet on LOOT!
