Trykz Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 A few months ago, I started scouring through all of the files I've used to build my previous race mods. I finally managed to get everything salvaged from numerous dead drives, misplaced folders, and generally just spread all over the place, so I could start the arduous task of rebuilding everything one last time, and get onto some new stuff in the process. Over the past couple of years I've been able to hone my race modding down to a science, and turn out a race in a pretty short amount of time (barring mishaps and computer explosions) I'm at a point now where I can reasonably expect that no matter what Bethesda has in store for Skyrim in the future, my methods of building race mods should be solid enough to keep them from being broken by any future updates or patches (if any). Going forward, I'll be rebuilding all of my previous races, while at the same time turning out some new, highly customized races, as well as a new worldspace for them to reside in and originate from. To start things off, I wanted to revamp a couple of races that have been heavily requested, while also working up a couple of new things I've seen requested a few times. I'll get into more detail for each race another time, and on an individual basis. But for now lets start with what's new: Amazons Big, beautiful bitches with tremendous strength and resolve, these truly barbaric ladies eat frost trolls for breakfast (with proper training of course ) Dwarves Not much larger than Skyrim's children, these little miners make fantastic sneak thieves, and are best suited to dungeon crawling to seek out Skyrim's valuables. They may be small, but they make very formidable opponents. Especially when wielding their own custom weapon of choice...... the Pickaxe Moonshadow Elves Unchanged from the original, they're just as you remember them Frost Elves Much has changed for these elves. Some abilities have been removed, but also replaced by abilities that suit them well, without greatly overpowering them. FrostFall? pffft..... they're right at home even completely naked no matter how cold it gets, welcoming the blustery winds out of the north while travelling Skyrim's southern-most regions --------------------------------------------------- These are all basically complete, needing but a few finishing touches and packaging. All of my races will be BSA/ESM format, but I'll be including an empty folder set for those who wish to body/texture swap. I should be able to have them ready to go by next weekend. Now I'm sure you're wondering what CRB is, and where TCRA went. TCRA is no more. Mostly because I've found it largely redundant to the way I build race mods now. The custom assets were nice, but they're nothing I can use/include on a "per mod" basis. So instead of TCRA, my mods will require a MUCH smaller Master file called CRB..... Custom Races Base. CRB is basically a collection of duplicated vanilla races (just like those in TCRA), and all of the custom head meshes I use in all of my race mods. Since the head meshes are stored outside of each race mod, there will be NO swap folder included with any of my races. Finally, there won't be any swap folders for Moonshadow Elves AT ALL, for the head OR the body meshes/textures. The tattoos and ears are trademarks of the race, and essentially make the race what it is. If you want to play a non-tattooed elf, make a vanilla one, or choose another of my elven races instead once released. Note that some races WILL NOT include a male variant, because things like a male "Demoness" or Spriggan "Queen" just don't make any sense. (males will be plain vanilla for certain races to avoid CTDs) So don't ask So that's basically it. Trykz
blabba Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 We can hotswap the bodies for ones we make in Bodyslide right? Edit: Disregard noob question, read full post and I got the answer. Though I still don't understand difference between the new master file and TCRA... No offense but for the dwarves and amazoness races I'd like to change out those shoulders.... And I think with my upcoming morphs I can get a good result for them. (On a completely unrelated note, I've been working on a conversion of Ares robot plates from New Vegas, to eventually integrate into your mesh for the Dwemfetale to really make it a robot without flesh... But that projects on the backburner until Citrus comes out which is in alpha right now)

Most of my races will have mesh and texture replacer folders, with very specific ones being exempt when it comes to race-specific meshes/textures. Kinda like this one: The "rebuilt" Spriggan Queen She just wouldn't be the same without those textures For example, her body shape can be easily reshaped and swapped into a replacer folder, but no replacer folder for her body textures will be included in the packaged mod, because they are custom textures I created with the intent of being exclusive to her race. And yeah, I converted Gatti's Jewel outfit to HDT in Outfit Studio Oh, and the difference between CRB and TCRA is.... oh..... about 999mb worth of custom meshes/textures I rarely ever used Trykz
blabba Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Well then, thanks for using the mod And further proving why I needed to do citrus, because those shoulders prove how bad my body was originally xD Then dang, that is quite the difference in the master files. Faster downloads for me! (I also apologize ahead of time, as citrus would require re-converting armours, but I promise I'm making sure the morphs are way better!)

I'm actually highly anticipating your new body. One thing I'd like to see, is some definition adjustment at the trapezius muscle. More or less to raise/lower it in accordance with body type (more for muscular bodies, less for petite bodies). I think the shoulder issue you mention would be well resolved if that particular muscle had some adjustment capability. Normal maps generally take care of a lot of the female muscle groups, but none I've found yet pay much attention to that area of the shoulder. Trykz
blabba Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I've got a morph for that, but it won't be released for at least another week or so. That area is notoriously hard to model on the skyrim reference pose. (Why beth decided to change from the standard T-pose will forever remain a mystery to me as it just makes life harder...)
Trykz Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Just for giggles I decided to package a few things up to get their finalized download sizes: CRB = 1mb LOL Moonshadow Elves = 32mb Spriggan Queen = 28mb All but the more complex races (like the hooved ones) will likely be around the same general size. With that, it's night work for me this week, so off to work I go Trykz
Chezza28 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 My man you just keep upping the bar lol .....bring on the dwarves mate!!
Trykz Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Another day with too little sleep Damn this night work sucks..... at least it's only for the week. Anyway, It gave me time to get DwemFatale and White Faun moved over to CRB and finished DwemFatale White Faun The White Faun got a number of changes as well. Using some of Nuska's Avatar of Hircine resources, I gave her a whole new look mostly in the texture department. I also used the tail and antlers, but I'm still undecided if this is how I want to release it. Lots to do, but time to get ready for work tonight Trykz

Is there anyway to make the fur near the hooves have more of a transition. What I mean is let the white fade out going up the leg. The white hoof fur seems to just stop, but with some white fur going up the leg it may seem more natural. Just an idea.

I'm thinking I'll add more brown to the textures for a better transition. I can get a couple of color samples from the body texture using GIMP. Trykz
Chezza28 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 i did have one question bud on the dwarf what height are you settling on monli size or smaller?
Trykz Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 i did have one question bud on the dwarf what height are you settling on monli size or smaller? I think it was .80 scale if I remember right..... I'll have it open in the CK later to confirm. Never used Monli, so I'm really not sure. They're around the same size as my Dovahteens were. In other news, Demoness got a whole new look I removed the wings since they were more of a hassle than worthwhile. I also opted for a much more morph friendly head mesh. Tattoos remain unchanged, but the horn mesh seemed more fitting, I thought. Again, the body mesh is HDT BodySlide, so you can tailor it to a more personally appealing shape. Preset will be included for those who want to keep the body and make some armors for it. Need to add some abilities/racials to Dwarves and Amazons, but I'm pretty much on track to release CRB and all of the races currently listed in this thread by tomorrow night. Trykz
Chezza28 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 the teens were a bout in fact .80 adult monli is bout that same size too ...sweet .
