Quadropuss Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 So, basically Skyrim is deciding to not launch anymore for me, I open it and click play and it just freezes before even loading anything in full screen. I found someone else on Youtube who is having or had the same exact issue but have not found anyone who can resolve the problem. I have uninstalled Skyrim twice and it has zero mods running... I really don't know what to do... Thanks.
nutluck Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 My first question is do you have any mods installed? My next question is have you tried launching it from inside Steam?
germanicus Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Have you tried to run it as "administrator"? You know, right click on Skyrim icon, run as administrator.
gvman3670 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Why from the launcher and not from Steam or SKSE launcher?

No I have zero mods running. I tried launching it from inside Steam a few times and it didn't work... Have you tried to run it as "administrator"? You know, right click on Skyrim icon, run as administrator. Tried that a couple of times and no success...
Quadropuss Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Why from the launcher and not from Steam or SKSE launcher? I tried that when I had SKSE a few times and it would just stay a frozen black screen till I had to troubleshoot it through controls...
Guest carywinton Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I have seen this happen before and it is usually due to the Steam Client not connecting to the Steam Authentication Server in a timely fashion. If you have verified your Steam Game Cache, which I am sure you probably have, I would totally turn off your connection to the Internet, with whatever device provides this, Cable Modem, xDSL Modem, etc. by unplugging the device from the wall A/C power plug, wait a minute or so, plug it back in, then restart your computer . If this fails to work, then I would next investigate an update to your video card driver software. After completing any necessary updates for your video card, sound card, etc. Go into the folder in this directory; C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim and delete these three files, RederInfo.txt, Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini , then run the Steam Game Cache Validation to replace these files with new ones. Once this is complete run Skyrim from the normal Steam Launcher and let it go through the normal graphics and hardware detection process. Leave the settings that it picks and try to run Skyrim again. Let me know if this helps and if not I will try to help you further. Kind Regards, CaryWinton
nutluck Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Ok yeah I am with carywinton, if you can't launch it thru Steam it sounds like it is not getting authorized correctly. Try what he mentioned first. Then try running verification on it, maybe it corrupted a file as it was installing. Failing all that you may have to uninstall and reinstall. I had to do that once with Total War Empire. Until I uninstalled and reinstalled the just would not run.
D_ManXX2 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 When you reinstalled skyrim again did you also remove any ini like skyrim.ini and skyrimprev.ini ??if not try deleting it forcing skyrim to re-detect all your pc settings. Reading the description i don't think it is steam or else it would not even launch at all and you will get an instant error.

Kind Regards, CaryWinton Yes I have verified my steam cache a few times and it told me "1 files failed to validate and will be reaquired" I'll try the internet connection in a moment. I have deleted the rederinfo.txt, skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini a while back ago and it didn't help the problem. Thanks for the suggestions. EDIT: I deleted the new skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini and it's working like a charm.. Thank you everyone!!!!
