How To Remove A Custom Body From An Npc In Creation Kit

Hi all,

A little background so you know where I am coming from.  I am at a very beginner level with the creation kit.  I have created several new NPCs, and one small player home primarily to learn to use the creation kit a bit.  So probably know enough to get me into a bunch of trouble now.

What I would like to do is this, I have a NPC mod that I like the NPC rather well, but would like it to use the default body and skeleton rather than the specific ones that came with the mod.  For now I replaced the skeleton and body files with the ones I am using from the default body folders.  That works fine, but I would like to make it a bit cleaner than that and simply remove the extra files so that my in game body is normalized.

I read a couple of guides and just am not finding how to do this.  Its likely a real rookie question, and easy to do.  I apologize in advance for posting here if its somewhere else, just point me the right direction if that's the case.

Thanks

i think i understand your question, lol. do you still have the rar/zip/7z that the body files came in? if you do it shows every file that you installed and you can manualy track them down to remove them. you could actually write a .bat batch file to do this for you if you took it one step further, so that one click would do it from now on.

Do they use a custom race or does the mod change one of the Skyrim races? If it is a custom race you can try changing it to another race or change the info on the Body Data tab in the race to the same skeleton, skin and body textures as the race it resembles most. If it modified the vanilla race you can change those values back to the default.

You don't need the creation kit. You can extract the archive, change the body files with other body meshes/textures, repack the archive and let a mod manager install the new archive.

Thanks everyone.

I have extracted the archive, changed the body files with other body meshes/textures and that works.  However, if I edit the body with Body slide 2 later, then I have to copy them all around again.  I would prefer to simply have one body definition that everything uses for all human looking races.  If its normalized it makes making changes much easier.

Sounds like I should be able to do it by looking at the defined race, then going to that race and changing what body definition files it points to.  David Porter's comments leave me wondering if I remove the body definitions will it simply use the default definition or will it come up invisible?

that depends on if you overwrote any files or not. but, even if worst case scenario it is invisible, could you not just re-extract the files back to where they were? don't try to save the game if it does lol. i have not had that problem.
