SpreadTheBlood Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Working on a mod at the moment, and everything texture wise looks fine on the CK but in game it looks like this:What could be causing this bug?EDIT: It works fine in game on my computer (the one I built the mod on) the one Im testing on (my brother's) is where the screenshot is from. He has the esp and the bsa files in the data folder. Thanks to anyone who reads/helps.-SpreadTheBlood
BlackArk Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 That is a nice plaid hat you got there. Usually missing textures leaves it purple-ish. Have you tried reloading to see if it is consistent throughout your reloads if not maybe you ran out of vram?
pclp2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 The effect often occurs when the mini maps missing in the textures.
SpreadTheBlood Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 The effect often occurs when the mini maps missing in the textures. Can you explain what you mean? It works on my computer, but when I go to test it on my brother's computer, that's when the texture bug occurs. Is it something failing when I export or is it just something he has to figure out on his end?

Is it something failing when I export or is it just something he has to figure out on his end? Some mods have textures, where the Mini Maps are missing. Mini Maps are there in principle to show the mesh with the right texture, in dependence on the distance to the object and the graphic settings of the computer. If a dds-file is opened/edited with Gimp (for example) and overwritten only - Minmaps not be saved. Your brother can be try to correct with the graphics settings of skyrim. It is better, however, the dds to open it with Gimp and then: File -> Export -> Filename.dds -> BC3/DXT5 (compression) + checkmark Generate Mini Maps. All files also need mini maps: filename_n.dds filename_s.dds filename_sk.dds filename_msn.dds
Bwog Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 @clp2011: In paint.net these are called Mip Maps? How can I see what the mip map part of the .dds file contains? Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap has some info. I guess that the mip map part is shown as smaller images, as is shown in the wiki. (Mini maps is something else though, but never mind)
pclp2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Sorry - I wrote wrong. Of course, it is called mipmap. I do not know in Paint.net. I use Gimp. In Gimp you can specify when opening the file, that the mipmap should be loaded. Gimp also has the advantage that you can create normal maps.
Bwog Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Some time ago, Gimp was 16 bits only. This must have changed. But I will download it later and see for myself. (Paint.net is has plugins that I find useful and simple to use, but if you have Gimp you probably don't need it.)
pclp2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I have Paint.net and Gimp 2.8 (Win7 64bit). I do not use Paint.net for dds, because Gimp has more features.
SpreadTheBlood Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Were you able to resolve the error? *shrugs* I had him reinstall, just haven't got around into resending him the mod files. I'll post back in a few and let you know.
