Jay1646 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Need some advice I think I may have a good system with this came out to $434 (I don't want to go over $450) CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($114.97 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($89.79 @ Amazon) Memory: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($63.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R7 265 2GB Video Card ($165.38 @ Newegg) Total: $434.13
Gagoloth Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Yes and no. Everything is good but the video card. Because its on the lower end it will limit you on the type of enb you can use. With that video card you might be able to get above or around 60 fps if you don't use any texture mods on skyrim or use the low resolution versions of them if they have them. here is an enb mod that's built for performance but also offers great visuals . http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53100/?
Jay1646 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Thank you for the advice I really appreciate it
Dutchbat Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Running a ENB on Vanilla skyrim should be really easy with that videocard but be carefull installing texture and flora mods. I don't really care about fps aslong it stays arround 30. To back that up, some console games cap there fps at 30 aswell so it's not like a big deal going below 60 fps. So with that in mind i'm pretty certain you can install some texture mods too.
Deedlit Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 im using k enb (most of time) and some others with flora overhaul, etc, and belive im with 2x gtx 780 and most of time my fps goes 45-50 just. Depends alot the enb and what mods are you using.
...0... Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 It's low end but you can still make decent game if your willing to investgate whats posible. 1k or 2k textures is not that bad compare to 4k textures Use performance ENB's Enboost and many other mods that can give you efficient build looks fine with your system Don't forget that you have to comepare it with vanilla and see difference if you enhance it with good performance build. Gopher have some good videos showing performance builds for lower systems. Goof luck.
Bootaka Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Will it run? Sure ok enough I guess, but it won't be enough, it never is. The real question is, How long do you want your money to last you? Spend it now or spend it later, you're going to spend it But given what you're after, I'd change out the CPU for a low end Intel I3, you can get an i3 3220 for $10 more than that AMD, and its better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116775 I'd also switch out the Video card for something like a 660 for an extra $20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127699 Better card. Here's an AsRock motherboard for an intel setup at the same price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157297 It is not as new as the 97s from Asus, but with the rest of the parts your're looking at, it won't make a difference. Has everything you need and it won't be your bottleneck.
Rayblue Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 If you choose to keep that build, try to select which texture and mesh mods you have to use. For the most part I prefer the BPT optimized textures, Langley's optimized packs, and SG Textures Renewal. Textures 2k and above should be restricted to the player character, including some armor and clothing mods. Mountains are the only terrain detail that is allowed to use 2k textures. Most objects are okay with 1k or 512x512 sized textures. There are several DDS formats and quality levels, and these will affect your gameplay. SMIM meshes will increase detail for most objects, but this'll require more processing power, which means you'll have to spend more just to use SMIM. Anything over 2k is overkill, or you'll have to run DDSOpt or Texture Optimizer. There are dozens of ENB presets out there, but only a few strike the balance between performance and eyecandy. My personal choices has always been those from Bronze316: True Vision, Project ENB and Seasons of Skyrim, all requiring 0.236 binaries. I have a rig slightly lower than your specs, and yet I'm okay with the 25-30fps framerate at 1280x800.

O yea thanks for everyone's responses, I'm not particularly knowledgeable about this subject -edit Would I be able to play new games like TitanFall with this setup?
jeti66 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I would actually disagree with Bootaka with the Intel i3 3220, the FX6300, does better in every benchmark except single core, some bechmarks here http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-3220-vs-AMD-FX-6300 I would also recommend the GTX 660, but this one, it has a better cooler, plus its $10 off and also has the $20 rebatehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127756 Next i would recommend getting the same motherboard but on newegg.com, a little cheaper, plus a $10 rebateLast i couldn't help but notice that the ram was out of stock, so i would recommend the Kingston, basically the same just with a better heatsinkhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104301 With fps, i have a GTX 560ti on 1080p with hd textures (2k not 4k), skyrim flora overhaul, dynamic snow, WATER, hd fire, realistic embers, and with Sharpshooters ENB (the old version to lazy to update) i get about +50 fps indoors, and 45 fps average outdoors, but i never dip down below 30 fps -Edit GTX 660 should be able it on high if not maxed out at 60fps at 1080p Titanfall
Jay1646 Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Thanks^^ Yea I think I'll shell out the extra cash to get the 660 I'm excited to finally play skyrim at high quality
Brunock Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I would definitely go for the 660. I had a 660 before I upgraded to a 770 just a month ago and with some 4k textures and using performance options in Project ENB at the time (no DOF or SSAO) I was able to run the game in 1080p consistently around 30-40 fps.
