treekiller12585 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Hi fellow members! The type of CTD that I'm getting is very specific. I get a CTD whenever I get close to the Dimhollow crypt and the Frostmere crypt since both of them are relatively close, one is above the other. I have tested this on a new save and it did not have any CTD. I don't know if this has to be in relationship of the quest in both sides. Awakening in DG and The Pale Lady in Frostmere since I have both quest in my journal. I tried searching the script that is creating this madness. disabling and deleting some scripts that may be the cause of this in the papyrus log. No good results because of this. I'll attach the papyrus logs, log 0 and 1 were attempts trying to get to that area. From fast traveling( because in early game I could get to that area safely, but later it started bugging) and using the console command tcl to get through there manually. Log 2 I made some changes with scripts that are having warnings. germanicus Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I'm afraid that there is no help for this. It is the game issue. Skyrim is the game known as the game with random CTd's, so to say. Some places in the game is fine in one save/new game, but, yet, another time, that place is causing CTD. Also, some places have a constant bug when should load after saving and causing CTD. For instance, regardless the character I play and new installed game, I always get CTD when saving in Fort Grenwall. Can't load that save. There are also a few places in the game, where, when CTD happens, there is not way you can load that save regardless of what you do. Those places are usually filled with bandits or other enemies. So, it is not only the matter of not to save on such places, but also the matter of the game's random bugs. One of my saves had a CTD when fast traveling or entering Solitude, the second one was on Mistwill Keep, third one in Whiterun and so on. So this is a Skyrim's sickness. This is my experience. Maybe someone else, more experienced, don't have such a problem.
CGi Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Good chance you uninstalled mods that affected the areas that are now causing CTDs.Try the Save Game Cleaner, maybe you get lucky.
germanicus Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 CGI - the save game cleaner will not help in Skyrim's "random CTD places" since they are not related to the mods. Believe me, I tried.
CGi Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Then there's still the old Save Game cleaner, who can clean up Refs.i'm sure it's a left-over from a removed mod, so unless he can try by installing those mods again, he can only try to clean up before having to start from scratch. Not to mention, that cleaning up the DLCs & mods and using the USKP is something most people just don't do, so crashes can even be based on those factors.
treekiller12585 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Then there is no solution for my long hours of dedication. I though there was a solution.
Gnowmickly Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Based by my own area CTD experience, mods that add stuff to the wilderness especially building, installing unofficial patches in the middle of play-through, might be the causes.
germanicus Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Eliuard, no offense, but you're wrong. I had a new game with previously installed Unofficial patches and still had "random places" CTDs. CTD's at certain places can be triggered, but not necessarily, if you are adding new structures into the places (cities) and main quest places during the play.
Coopervane Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 First up, if you haven't already, go here, read this, and follow it to the letter: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/? Then get yourself a copy of BOSS and Tes5Edit, these are invaluable tools for finding and eleminating bad and broken mods, aswell load-order issues. And there are a ton of bad mods out there, so many of Skyrim's patches have shat the bed in terms of backwards compatabillity, and so many mods still exist that were never updated for the latest patch, it's a bit of a mess, you can really screw up your game running old or bad mods. Be very carefull using Hi-Def texture packs, they make for a pretty game, but certainly not a more stable one. Skyrim can only allocate so much memory (about 3.1 gigs), exceed that limit and the game is going down in flames. Be equally careful loading to many script heavy mods, you can use a few, but load to many, and it's crash-city. There is no such thing as a clean save in Skyrim. Period. Any mod you've had loaded is baked into your save files, and if you remove that mod mid-playthrough, you are causing damage to your saves and things will likely get broken. Do not uninstall mods unless you plan on starting a brand new game, or have an earlier save you can fall back on made from before that mod was enabled. I used to have these problems with Skyrim aswell, there was just certain places i coulden't go without the game having an ~80% chance of crashing, and random crashes would often happen after an houer or less of playtime. Now i have to play a marathon of 6 to 7 houers straight before there's a chance the game might crash, and there is no place on the map that is off limits. A complete random, lightning from a clear blue sky crash can still happen, but that's just Skyrim beeing Skyrim, and it happens so rarely, i can't even remember the last time it actually did. The problem was bad mods, dangerous .ini edits that i had been told were a great idea by random online tweak guides (they were not), and the rest was solved between the Unofficial-patches getting more mature, and installing the Mem-patch + EnBoost. Skyrim CAN run well, and if it issen't, then chances are you can make it do so by following some good advice, and beeing a little critical of the mods that you are installing
