FNV Dialog loop

I keep getting stuck in a dialog loop.  NPC's will attempt to engage in a conversation that really doesn't go anywwhere.  The NPC walks up and the dialog box opens with:

 

What can i do for you?

 

ok

 

Talk to you later.  (Or something similar).

 

 

This happens over and over, and each time, i get a split second to tap before it starts up again.  Eventually, i get far enough away that they have to move toward me to engage again, and i just run.  They follow me for quite a while, but if i can keep my distance for at least a few seconds, when they try to engage again, the camera just zooms in a bit, then they walk away.

 

If i happen to walk into a crowded room, it can take a very long time to escape, because generally, 3 - 4 people will want to do that dialog loop.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Merging sexout mods is a bad idea, and tryouts is a complex one and likely more problematic than most. It will break the MCM and any BuildRef calls and other things.

 

It sounds like something is set up to start a conversation and keep trying until it does, which is a common tactic because just telling an NPC to talk once is unreliable, but the topic they are supposed to start isn't available for some reason (probably its attached quest isn't active) so they are defaulting to GREETING.

 

Disable all your mods and see if that stops it, and if so then re-enable/disable in batches until you track down the problem one, and revert to unmerged sexout mods.

That maybe got something to do with SexoutSlavers2 - forced conversation is set to "a" or "s" by default. Check MCM menu for this mod.

It's set to [D] by default in my MCM.

 

I tried to merge the Tryout faction esp because mods past 137+/- gives me issues, and past 140, game won't load at all.  Which sucks, because this is the first time i have a video card that can really push this game and mods.

Do you have both Small Talk and Smaller Talk installed?  I think st.esp is Small Talk?

 

As far as merging mods, I would think that you could group a bunch of your pose mods (sleep on back/idles), clothes, and other teeny fixes.  My own personal comfort level wouldn't have me including esms (cause I'm a fraidy cat).  I'd say to merge stuff that you always install and are confident isn't going to be updated (i.e., it's been out an unchanged for a long time/"final").  That was what I did.  And if you do use the script w/ FNVEdit to auto-merge, be sure that you've extracted any BSAs that go with the mod.  Otherwise, that stuff doesn't appear in game.  Of course, it'll act like a new install, so you'll have to retrieve any equipment again.

 

There's a script on Skyrim Nexus that allows the most current (v31?) version of FNVEdit to merge stuff automatically for you.  The concern is for anything that adds cells and possibly something else (it is early, the memory is fuzzy, and I am too lazy for searching :blush: ).  Let me know if you can't find it, and I'll bust out of lazy mode.

 

I don't know that you need T6.esp installed since Sexout installs the T6 BSA anyway.  Someone else should probably comment on this before you remove it, though.  I don't ever remember the esp for it showing up in my load order.  I can't speak to the T6 esms that affect equipment.  Clothing replacers should stay. 

 

Also, I only had Robert's installed briefly, but I don't think you need the esp for that either (even though it's inactive, your mod limit can still get all snippy about it).

I tried using the Robert's body that comes with sexout, but the males always had the "Wal-Mart Boxers" on when looting, so i installed Robert's from nexus to change that.  

 

I used the merging script from skyrim nexus for the merged patch mentioned above.  I'm only used to merging armor mods, always too paranoid to do more.  The above patch was my first foray beyond armor merging.

Yeah.  The replacer with Sexout only adds the bodies that are used during sex, so you are correct in that you still have to install a male body on its own for looting.  I use Breeze's normally and only used Robert's for 2 seconds to try to diagnose an issue, so I can't say for sure about its esp.

 

I'm just trying to help you whittle down your mods.  :D

Sorry OP if I'm out of topic, but...

 

I just wanted to highlight this, for those who believe the "number of doom" (139 active plugins) is not true. Too many people have issues after it, here's another example. I personally take it very much in consideration.

I've grown lax during my time with skyrim.  I have an R9 270x 2gb card, and on skyrim i have 255 esp's including a merged patch of 26 armors, coming from some 400 +/- mods.  Then i go revisit fallout with my new card and find that my soft cap is 137 esp files, with a hard cap of 140 (game won't even start at 141).  This doesn't seem to change regardless of which mods i'm loading.
