Hentai-chan Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Today, after downloading a few mods over a month (but never testing them) I wanted to get back into the game. And guess what I find. FALLOUT ************* 3 SOFT-CRASHING DURING STARTUP- by SOFT-CRASHING, I mean it starts up all nice and well, then it punches me in the face with a Fallout3 stopped responding. . You put a little thought in to what you'e gonna do, you got some mods, you are brimming with anxiety to play that game then BAM... game crashes on startup and crushing your dreams along. Dramatic maybe, but true all the same. Urrrrrrgh! How I hate misfortune. I swear if I catch Lady Luck, I'm gonna... well, she's gonna get it. But right now, I have a Fallout 3 that refuses to start up. I have no idea why its caused. I run BOSS, I see no errors. I run FO3Edit, I see no errors. So as far as I can tell it is not a load-order issue. My money's on incompatibility. And I have no idea which ones might cause the problem. I have all compatibility patches for certain mods that are known to conflict with each other. Please help me before I tear apart my Laptop in an unstoppable rage. Here's the List of mods and Load-order. nyaalich Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It's either Ling's or Mikoto's that insists on being at the bottom of the load order. You might try that. Which version of Windows are you running?
Hentai-chan Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 Win7. EDIT: Bitch still refuses!!!!!!!!
Hentai-chan Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 You're gonna need a merged patch. Any good recommendations? Edit: I can find them myself but I fell I should ask since you're so specific. Edit: Found a quick guide to make one myself. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/881891-merged-patch/ Is it advisable?
nyaalich Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Actually, it is a good suggestion. Look up FNVEdit on Nexus, and you can get the program and the training pdf.
Hentai-chan Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 One question. I have no experience modding and never did something on this scale. I can tag a few mods as recommended by BOSS, which aren't very many. My question is: in case it doesn't work, which mods should I merge? Because I really don't want to make a stupid mistake and I am one mishap away from completely deleting both FO3 and FNV. Both games are fun and I would hate to lose them. But if I can't play them and have fun, why should I keep them around?
DoctaSax Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 You're gonna need a merged patch. Any good recommendations? Edit: I can find them myself but I fell I should ask since you're so specific. Edit: Found a quick guide to make one myself. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/881891-merged-patch/ Is it advisable? Ahem. It is not only advisable, it is necessary if you're hoping to get a load order like that to ever work.
Hentai-chan Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 Well, **** me! It actually worked! To be on the safe side I used searched for merged patch guides on Google. And loan behold... I found one that did just what I wanted it to do. Anyone having trouble can use this: http://modsreloaded.com/how-to-reduce-crashing-using-fo3edit-t2473.html Thanks a ton! or Megaton! Heh, heh... heh, heeeeeh. Yeah, that was terrible. Oh, should I do this for Skyrim and FNV, as well? Will help with those, too. Edit: Forgot to add that your save must be indoors and wait for 3 days for this to work: I assume it is to let the world load up properly so you won't have to deal with anything, and not let yourself get frustrated.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Put your StreetLights.esm right below BrokenSteel.esm. Author suggests this in the description. Fallout3.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esm StreetLights.esm <---------PointLookout.esmZeta.esm Though, to be honest, It shouldn't matter. I used to have it below the main masters, but I don't remember if it had any changes. It's been a long time.
Hentai-chan Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Appreciate the help but I no longer have issues with Fallout 3. For the moment, anyway. Still apprecaited it, though.
