I have a bitchy Fallout...

Today, after downloading a few mods over a month (but never testing them) I wanted to get back into the game. And guess what I find. FALLOUT ************* 3 SOFT-CRASHING DURING STARTUP- by SOFT-CRASHING, I mean it starts up all nice and well, then it punches me in the face with a

Fallout3 stopped responding.

. You put a little thought in to what you'e gonna do, you got some mods, you are brimming with anxiety to play that game then BAM... game crashes on startup and crushing your dreams along. Dramatic maybe, but true all the same.

Urrrrrrgh! How I hate misfortune. I swear if I catch Lady Luck, I'm gonna... well, she's gonna get it. But right now, I have a Fallout 3 that refuses to start up. I have no idea why its caused. I run BOSS, I see no errors. I run FO3Edit, I see no errors. So as far as I can tell it is not a load-order issue. My money's on incompatibility. And I have no idea which ones might cause the problem. I have all compatibility patches for certain mods that are known to conflict with each other. Please help me before I tear apart my Laptop in an unstoppable rage.

Here's the List of mods and Load-order.

I also have Fallout Re-Animated and its comp patch for RH_IronSights.

There you have it. Hope you can see what the problem is.

Q: Does having a neat and tidy load-order have any impact on crashes? Notably, in this case?

Posted

It's either Ling's or Mikoto's that insists on being at the bottom of the load order.  You might try that.

Which version of Windows are you running?

One question. I have no experience modding and never did something on this scale. I can tag a few mods as recommended by BOSS, which aren't very many. My question is: in case it doesn't work, which mods should I merge? Because I really don't want to make a stupid mistake and I am one mishap away from completely deleting both FO3 and FNV. Both games are fun and I would hate to lose them. But if I can't play them and have fun, why should I keep them around?

Well, **** me! It actually worked! To be on the safe side I used searched for merged patch guides on Google. And loan behold... I found one that did just what I wanted it to do.

Anyone having trouble can use this: http://modsreloaded.com/how-to-reduce-crashing-using-fo3edit-t2473.html

Thanks a ton! or Megaton! Heh, heh... heh, heeeeeh. Yeah, that was terrible.

Oh, should I do this for Skyrim and FNV, as well? Will help with those, too.

Edit: Forgot to add that your save must be indoors and wait for 3 days for this to work: I assume it is to let the world load up properly so you won't have to deal with anything, and not let yourself get frustrated.

Put your StreetLights.esm right below BrokenSteel.esm. Author suggests this in the description.

Anchorage.esm
ThePitt.esm
BrokenSteel.esm

StreetLights.esm  <---------
PointLookout.esm
Zeta.esm

Though, to be honest, It shouldn't matter. I used to have it below the main masters, but I don't remember if it had any changes. It's been a long time.

Appreciate the help but I no longer have issues with Fallout 3. For the moment, anyway. Still apprecaited it, though.
