How do i fix a displaced (offset) torso?

Hello

I'm wondering how do i fix in 3dsmax an error i'm having with the object when copying the tbbp/bbp skin modifier, it "offsets" the current object (armor, body, etc) always a certain distance that's up and behind the ingame position (Y, Z)

ingame it looks like this

the problem started while i was testing the outfit studio to create tbbp body slide compatible armors, but since the armors i'm testing use NiSkinInstance instead of the bsdismember modifier the outfit studio results go belly up (i'm aware it's a known issue) and can't be opened in nifskope etc.

So i decided to manually add the tbbp/bbp effects to the "results" of a plain cbbe outfit studio conversion

the "plain" cbbe conversions work ingame, but when i'm trying to edit em using the skeleton and tbbp/bbp skin modifiers (that have previously worked with non outfit studio / body slide 2 conversions) they always result in displaced objects ingame, i mean, the tbbp and bbp effects are in, so it obviously works, it's just offset behind the rest of the body parts (head, hands and feet)

i've checked the pivot and it doesn't seem to be the problem and i haven't successfully moved the Y and Z coords so the changes get saved when switching between objects

here's how it looks in max

the purple one is the "tbbp enabled" offset version how it'll look ingame compared to the desired position (the teal colored object)

tried disabling the "always deform" but no luck so i've come for some suggestions or if someone knows how to do that since it's been like 3 months since the last bodyslide 2's update so i want to learn to fix it myself if possible

thanks!

You can change the NiSkinInstance nodes into BSdismemberNodes in Nifskope, to make the nifs compatible for Outfit Studio.

As for your max question, I am unsure of what it is you are trying to achieve?

If you just want to copy the weights, and copying pasting the skin modifier is messing up for whatever reason, you can always try to use the skin wrap modifier.

Hope that helps somehow!

Save your work first just in case and then click the skin modifier and then over on the right in advanced parameters uncheck and then recheck 'always deform'  that should set it back to the meshes position.

EDIT : damn, sorry, didn't see you'd tried that.  Upload a max file if you want and I'll take a look

Hello guys, thank you for your answers

i think i've somehow managed to "fix" it, but only got to do it once so it's still trial and error so i'll need to test it ingame tonight, at least the tbbp body looks "in place" now with my latest tests, i don't have a bbp body nearby so i'll have to wait to find that tonight and play with the meshes some more

as a side note, this is what happens when i use skin wrap

this time, the teal/purple ones are the original "plain body" and tbbp body positions, the dark blue is the "copy and paste" skin offset, and the orange one is when i do the object delete skin - smooth - skin wrap - skin - delete skin wrap thing, it still has a minor offset and that's why i'm not using that since ingame it's quite noticeable

i've tried uploading the .max file but the forums say i'm not allowed to upload that kind of file

Sorry that i'm resurrecting my old post, but my computer died shortly after and i had to restore a bunch of stuff so finally i'm able to pick this project where i left it

Sadly i'm stuck, tried to do the skinwrap and the always deform thing and no luck so i'm posting the .max file if someone can/wants to help me figure out what's the problem and how to fix it for other similar outfit studio conversions that sadly are plagged with the same offset problem when i try to tbbp em

As I am working on Project Unibody, I *think* I understand where your 'error' is coming from and why your having such a hard time....

But I really do need more details, and I still can't figure out what exactly it is you are trying to do here....

Maybe if those two were clearer I could be able to help you.

Also try the chat link, if you see me on here in LL, It'd be easier to get you up to speed on what I think is the 'problem' your having here...

Basically what i want to do is add tbbp to the body and the armor

the .max i attached has the following

a "tbbptorso" that has my usual tbbp skin and the "aligned" position so it looks good ingame

a "baseshape_offset" that's the body that bodyslide 2 created (with the armor) and originally lacks tbbp support, as a plain "no animation" CBBE body it works, but i want to add tbbp effects on it and the armor

and the 2 pieces of armor

the thing is i've tried deleting  baseshape_offset's skin, copying tbbptorso's skin and no luck, tried to skinwrap tbbptorso into baseshape_offset, no luck, the body ingame always ends up tbbp animated yes, but not aligned with the hands-feet-head, it's always either a bit above and behind (when i copy paste) or a bit below and upfront (when i skinwrap)

i've tried a lot of ideas but no luck so far

i'll check the chatroom later tonight :)
