Well, well, well ... I'm trying to download some new housemods on the Nexus servers and ... Guess what ? Nexus is down, as usual ... My mod's testings will be postponed.

ha ha, that's a specialty of nexus, rename value "nothing works anymore"gefuehle_0119.gif

edit: now IT WORKS!

I downloaded Riverside Lodge and I was disappointed. The house is beautiful, the location too and actually that little space without that house looks empty without it... but for a matter of personal tastes I don't like the inside. Only a little portion of the house looks like a real house, the rest looks like... just a place where to craft quickly and store the loot. :\  (not actually a bad thing though)

It's pretty much spartan because it uses available objects in the game.

Being too mindful of bloat, I tend to avoid home mods that uses scripts or loads too many display racks and mannequins.

Yeah mannequins, exactly ;_;

Anyway the first floor of the house is ok the lights are well placed and I like the mood, thing totally ruined in the second floor that like I said just looks like a place to store stuff and increase your Smithing skills.... but I guess that's what a lot of people want from a house in skyrim

isnt that what houses are for? to store more stuff, while you go out and get more stuff.

a good house mod should have a good lighting (not too dark) , I would eventually like can see everything well and do not run with a torch around!

moreover should the spaces not be too big, I do not mean to "get lost", that ratio should be correct.
Here is an example which is not at all from the outside, this house is inconspicuous when you're in the house you feel very quickly lost, the spaces are huge.

They are, and it's not a bad thing... but that always depend on the player. I was just pointing that a large part of the house seems to create a cozy, comfortable mood with a nice view with the only purpose to relax and roleplay your character (or at least that's how I see it)

If store the loot it's the only purpose of a house in skyrim why modders create such beautiful and aesthetic mods?

*By the way... I love George Carlin

thats the kind i cant stand, its way to big on the inside for what ya see on the outside. alittle differnce in size is ok, but some just go to retarded lengths.

who doesnt love Carlin?

they usually build those kinds, because it's what they want in a house. atleast thats what they say.

I only use two house mods and one isn't really a house... My house is Riverwood Retreat, the view from the deck is very nice... it even has a chair at the very end of it ( and yes, I have fallen off... LOL) But my favorite place is ... The Levelers Tower :D Its fn huge!!! There are so many places to store stuff, more Mannequins than I can use ( and I'm a pack rat)... It has awesome lighting and lots of places to take some really good pics. IMO... nothing comes close. heres a couple pics.... the first isn't even the armory... more of a show and tell wall ... the last is a staircase in the Library .... I literally take about 80% of all my pics inside this thing :D

...  a simple rule, "if it does not fit the lore, it is unfit for my skyrim". There are some housing mods that fit perfectly into the natural setting of skyrim, then there are those that are simply unnatural to the environment. I like to play as poor most of the time, so 'mansion mods' are kinda weird unless there is some evil, vile creature living within needing expunging.

Would be cool to have a mod that captured housing from the player, both vanilla and modded, that added evil, vile creatures/bandits within; when you are away too long, or fail a quest, or are robbed roadside. Of course these bandits would steal, sell all your stuff if left unattended to.

yeah, that was in my load order for a long time, one of the best of the bunch, but can't remember why I dropped it...papyrus spam, or too many scripts perhaps. Maybe the dirty edits...  I'm a script paranoid. Thanks for the suggestion, going to give it another try.

Tried lots of house mods but either give me a terrain issue, stuttering problem, shadow stripping or even CTD. My first favorite home mods was Elysium estate but it causes terrain issue, gap at the entrance and cause CTD on the way to the tower where you fight the dragon

Then I found Field Labs. I really love Field Lab but the damn quest is located at Riften area which is mother of all area CTD, the latest Field Lab 2 required you to go to Solsteim for upgrade which is father of all area CTD  :o

I gave up on normal gameplay after suffering from CTD trauma (not the Cumulative Trauma Disorders) and decided to just stay in Whiterun so I'm using Comphy Pool Breezehome, It has everything a SL player needs like pool, toilet, "music room", huge basement for your *ahem* furniture, danger room etc. an it doesn't alter any exterior of the building. Another thing I like about it is there's no load door and have own custom lighting so I don't have to worry about lighting problem

Dat large CTD family...

Anyway, field lab is pretty cool! I had the opportunity to talk with the creator of the mod in the Nexus chat (then badass Nexus cops arrived and he went away) put that house inside a forest and you will have your little magic place

I'm a fan of Underground Bathhouse and Paradise Valley  http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27361/

I enjoy how lively it is, since you can invite just about any NPC in Skyrim to come live there (follower or not).  And you can dress them all in whatever clothes you want to put them in, lore friendly or otherwise.  Great place to stash your followers and favorite NPCs, and they all follow a unique routine so it's pretty active.

Seems to works fine with Amazing Follower Tweaks, which is a bonus.  And a new mod out makes the house guards friendlier so they don't chase off Serana if you're playing through Dawnguard.

Also has a jail you can lock Aerin in when he comes creeping along following Mjoll.  Especially handy if you went with Mjoll as a spouse since he basically just moves in and hovers over her.

shall I tell you why I love Underground Bathhouse! oh well I'll tell you, because there I can buy a gazillion of human flesh.

for what I need as much human flesh? a good question to a unique armor  to forge.

if I have made you curious, I will at a later time to upload a few pictures.

Just isntalled this one : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54479/? (White River Cottage)

Be warned ! It takes a lot of ressources but is very nice. For me, i can barely handle this one because of many scripts and textures. But, if your rig is more up-to-date than mine, go check it.  One good thing : you must buy it to obtain the key (good thing). This house is spouse and multi-adoption friendly with TPhoenix mod Multi Adoption.
