Mister_Monster Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 open the console, target the dragon during the opening cinematic, when he is on top of the tower, and type: KILL. he dies. So. Would you absorb his soul? Would the imperials just shrug and continue with your beheading? The game has been out a few years. Has someone tried this before?

I think the game will stop there waiting for the Alduin to make the next move to trigger an event flag. I say you try it and tell us how it goes.
myuhinny Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 The first scene where you are getting ready to be beheaded is a cut scene and everything that follows is set to go a certain way. The dragon Alduin is for the most part through the whole game unkillable till you get to the quests and area where you can kill him. There is a mod that makes even essentials killable but you will end up screwing your game and quests up. Because it will let kill anyone quest givers or not and if you kill the dragon your game will not progress anymore because you broke it by breaking one of the set things that is suppose to happen and doing things during certain times can also mess/break progression. I know because I use to do it a lot simply because it gets boring waiting for them to get to the creation area so you could make a player. I would go into tfc mode I have accidently killed one of the horses pulling the wagon (breaks the progression and you get stuck) I have stayed out of the wagon and didn't get back in before certain spots (breaks the progression and you get stuck) I stayed out too long during the name reading and it switched to my player (breaks the progression and you get stuck) I have since learned when to tfc out and when to get my ass back. Now by the time that they get to my name in the list I have already tfced out and control killed everyone one including the horses that took me there and I am already back in my body safely. If you kill the guy that gets beheaded (breaks the progression and you get stuck)
Mister_Monster Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 Dang. And here I thought I was all jiggy with it.
Sweatington Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Should be possible with random alternate start and non essential npc's. Though expect complications if you plan to finish it.
calranthe Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 It will probably break the game but instead of the kill command just target him and use the Disable command, come to think of it what would happen if you targetted yourself and used the disable command.
Mud Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Disable doesn't work on the player. The kill command didn't even work on dragons in the first place the last time I checked them a (long) while ago, so the kill command would likely do nothing at all to Alduin.

Used to be the fastest way to exit Oblivion. Player.disable resulted in a nigh instant CTD, which had the upshot of quitting the game quickly instead of it taking close to an hour.
Pepper201 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I don't know lol. I don't think he can be killed til you get to the part in main quest for that. I guess try it and see what happens.
