merge mods - not merging

I try to merge mods but all I get is I must have the mod as master or empty space.

Hi,

how are you trying to merge and which mods? Scripted or more 'save' ones like armors?

I'm always merging with Merge Plugins TES5Edit Script.

I have a question. When I merged 3 followers together, it tries to drag in Apachii hair into the merge. without it one them has shiny metallic blue hair. If I allow Apachii hair into the merge and then don't deselect apachii hair in TES5Edit, will Apachii hair work normally?

rename old esp to match merged esp name here:

• meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\

and here:

•  textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\

thanks for the help eifrag, excuse me for being noobish at this, your advice will deal with the hair issue without including Apachii hair in the merge?
