Idea: Sexlab mod of the month/year polls?

In another (smaller) strategy game forum i regularly visit they have the nice idea to make polls for an AAR of the month, usually about 5-10 AARs to chose from.

The rules are fairly easy, any AAR that got updates in that month qualifies, and after every month for about a week any member may suggest a qualifying AAR for voting, after that there is the monthly poll and the winner gets a small AAR of the Month award.

We have already the option to like posts of other members, but i think it could be a nice additional way to give our great modders back a little.

And it would be interesting to see the favorites of the other members, for example the recent devious devices assets poll result was unexpected with all 3 possible items liked about as much.

The only downside might be that a modder gets demotivated if very few members vote for his mod.

I think the poll should be limited to sexlab mods and adult mods, there should be about 5-10 mods to vote for every month then.

Additionally we could count the winners and do an olympic inspired counting, with gold/silver/bronze mod of the month awarding 3/2/1 points, and at the end of the year those 5 or 10 mods with the most points would be qualified for the poll sexlab mod of the year.

What do you think about the idea?

We can and also should give our love to the modders directly. I think a more personal reply / comment with thank you gives more encouragement than a poll :)

why is it so many hate the nexus (and most times what they suggest is one of the things they hate about nexus) but want to turn LL into another nexus, I just don't understand. If a modder produces something we like, we damn sure tell em about it in comments and likes. and at least here on LL if we tell you we like it it is sincere. it isn't done because we're on the same friend list. and most often if it isn't something we like, we pass it by no nasty comments or you suck cause you don't build for me BS. Most times the mods produced are for the modders themselves and we get them cause they felt the need to share or at the very least get some feedback. if anything more need to "tell" the modders they are appreciated in there respective comments sections. Polls are unnecessary and usually clutter things up and for the amount of mods here it would be to many polls.

We already have a vaguely clique-y "Like" system, we don't need any more arbitrary and petty popularity contests.

Hm i am quite unaware of the nexus, i only have a 0 post account there to download mods.

So down to the graveyard with the idea :D

Hate for Nexus? Why? Too mainstream?

Being "mainstream" is certainly the cause of the reasons most people left, but no, the gate doesn't spawn directly from Nexus' mainstream status.

Turning this into a shitty hipster argument is oversimplification.

People "left"? You are talking about their forums only?

As much as we all hate on the Nexus we still download mods from it(are you going to say you don't?), unless you are also banned from the files section, which is another reason to hate on them. I think it's human nature to be a bit of a hypocrite since it's hard to be perfect in all your principles, especially when it doesn't concern something important.

Regarding the suggestion in the OP, I agree with the rest of the posts. No need making it a competition since that will only bring mods that try to please the masses. What's so interesting about LL is that you can find something for everyone here. Even for people with special fetisches. :)
