mclericp Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Not sure if it belongs to the technical section but, posting it in the general. I noticed that back in the days when skyrim first came out and pretty much the only mods are retextures stuff, whiterun is the area with the highest ctd and freezes for me. Hell i dont get any ctds in other places but once i go whiterun, sometimes BAM crash. Now with mods it is getting unstable. My question is, what makes whiterun so prone to such crashes?
gvman3670 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I don't have issues with Whiterun any more. I haven't had any issues with this last install (and now two different characters on that install (I am using Mod Organizer)). When I did have them I didn't have the mem patch and Free Mem running and every time the papyrus logs were showing issues with SoS and When Vampires Attack (as well as extra NPCs).
EternalDamned Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I do quite frequently. But only when coming out of Dragonsreach. I will often CTD if I leave Dragonsreach and quickly go straight down the stairs, past the Gildergleem and down towards Banneredmare. (CTD can happen at any point in there) But if I go slowly, stopping for a second frequently, then it doesn't happen. It does not happen going to the Dragonsreach dungeons, only the castle proper. I suspect it has something to do with the skeleton underneath the bridge crossing into Dragonsreach as I have actually gotten stuck right outside the main door exactly above that skeleton, unable to move and bobbing up and down just like the skeleton in the water. Also seems to happen more if I leave Dragonsreach using the right side of the double doors.
Rayblue Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I never had any problems before 1.9 came; but afterwards apparently the memory allocation got fucked up, not until sheson came with his killer app.
Vancien Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Do these two things Free Mem SSME You can thank us all later.
Mud Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I think having numerous NPCs in one place contributes greatly to memory issues. Before the memory patch came along, for me wandering around places like Whiterun or Dawnstar with NPC beautification mods was nigh impossible in the daytime. Now I can run straight through the town during peak hours with four companions in tow with nary a hitch.
...0... Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 No problems with whiterun ever. 180 mods and super heavy 4k textures(maybe to heavy now got drop to 40fps sometimes even 35fps)But sinds SSME installed my game runs alot more smoother. Before SSME i already did not crash much due to my install and know what can crash(scripts-OC-background apps running- to many npc's around you-heavy un compressed textures) have high end pc so i can handle some heavy load but i had before SSME long load times they are gone now. I suggest read some stuff about optimize your game and how to install also watch some video's for tutorials. Ghoper video's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xAMUQc1oY&index=103&list=PL96C073B0B8BFC01D Boris "ENB" Vorontsov tips. CTD reasons.rar
Jezzerat Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I have never had a single issue with Whiterun in years of playing this game.
Rayblue Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I have never had a single issue with Whiterun in years of playing this game. Before 1.9, that is.
