erkeil Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I'm tempted to make my own replacement for Deadlier Dragons someday. I do not like how DD and similar mods throw in a whole new set of skills and powers, even if you disable all the new dragons. It'd certainly be nice if they'd flee a lot when their health drops low. Those dragons just got brought back to life, they're not eager to die again. It'd make killing one a lot more rewarding. Also, a form list with many names and the game giving random names to each dragon, it makes it a lot more personal than adding boss dragons. There are already mods that change Dragons only boosting their skills, hps and resistances. I don't know about random names. My mod givea a (Draconic) name to any kind of Dragon, but Dragons aren't unique like Boss. And well, clearly personal opinion, anyway give a shot to Enhanced Mighty Dragons if you haven't.

Boosting skills, HP and resistances is the opposite of improving dragons. Simply raising stats tends to make for boring, drawn out battles in about any game, where if you have the right approach to fight something, it is a matter of rinse and repeat. There's nothing worse than a MMO where a boss can be defeated alone, by raising some buffs, blocking attacks and spamming a chain of actions for an hour. I think a viable way is for the same dragon to flee and return, keeping an eye on you from the skies, attacking when it's least convenient. It'd really give the feeling that dragon is patiently biding his time, he does live forever after all. Imagine dragons pulling off guerrilla tactics, swooping in and attacking when your health is low, only to curse at you angrily when you survive his attack and hurt him too much as he flees and waits for the next opportunity. Or he attacks when you just are close to NPC's who are your friends, because the dragon knows you'll try to protect them which is a vulnerability. That way it'd really feel like a battle with a dragon is personal, encountering him 10 or so times until you finally get that twisted winged bastard. Perhaps you can beat the living daylight out of a few cultists even, to learn where that particular dragon likes to roost when he's not terrorizing you. And then, suddenly, that dragon isn't a mere critter anymore. He became an antagonist, a worthy opponent who gave you a score to settle. Outsmarting and out-thinking you. "Next time, Dovahkiin, next time!"
Rokabur Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Installed the EMD as well as populated forts, caves, dungeons, towers, ruins, places as well as enhanced enemy AI and NPC overhaul. Way too many friggin enemies now. You need to be a magic caster with alot of AoE spells to take on dungeons now lol. Doing the dragon Rising quest now, the dragon is now enhanced plus he now likes to fly over to the nearby bandit fort which means fighting near there draws out about 12 mobs each at Marauder level along with several casters that can take off my 470HP in a few attacks lol.
erkeil Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 @ Ember Hart I understand your thoughts but I have another idea about Dragons. For me Dragons should be the most terrible and strong enemies. Look at Smaug of the Hobbit for an example. Well, It's an heritage of my old past as Player & Dungeon Master (D&D first edition, then personally modified edition ).Dragons should be surely smart, but also very very strong. Moreover, Dragons should be superb, not like a guerrilla soldier (always my personal opinion). @ Rokabur LoL!
calranthe Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I just wondered why you would choose these mods over Dragon combat overhaul ?, most of the other ones just seem to increase armor/hp/strength of dragons while DCO changes how they actually fight. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32597

Just load EMD before than DCO in load order.

Couldn't stand it since I prefer to play melee most of the time.
Rokabur Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Did install EMD difficulty 9. Was it intentional that the generic 'Dragon Priest' takes over 30 times longer to kill on Legendary difficulty then the named priests with the masks?
erkeil Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Did install EMD difficulty 9. Was it intentional that the generic 'Dragon Priest' takes over 30 times longer to kill on Legendary difficulty then the named priests with the masks? Nope! Have you installed the Dragon Priest module of the mod? 1st time I've read something like this.
Rokabur Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Yes I did install the dragon priest module. Generic 'Dragon Priest' I'm wailing away for over half an hour slowly lowering its HP cause of insane HP regen. Named Dragon Priest is dead in like 7-8 minutes on same difficulty.

Strange, the module changes all Dragon Priests in the same way (be careful = Dragon Priests summoned by some Dragons last 60 sec then disappear. The new Dragon Priest summoned is new, every time). Are you using the "super mighty" level or the (suggested) "mighty" level?
Rokabur Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I'm using Difficulty 9 Nightmare. Difficulty 10 Nightmare unleveled dragons were too hard for me. I selected Nightmare Dragon Priest module as well.
