Guest Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I can't play skyrim for more than 5 minutes before my game stops responding. It's not even during events, It'll just happen randomly, I have no idea what the problem is. More likely to happen during combat or when changing cells.
Cynical Misanthrope Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I can think of 2 things. Are drivers up to date? Maybe some harddrive gets overheated?
Cynical Misanthrope Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 No idea what can cause it then. I'm not really a tech, but I had similar problem once. Game froze randomly (well other games as well) and it turned out to be the drivers for the graphic card were outdated. And I think if the graphic card gets overheated, the game will not freeze, but just restart the pc completely. Same with the processor. I Apologize for not being moar helpful.
dobmc Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Time to create a new save… But first enable script log via skyrim.ini: Under [papyrus] bEnablelogging=1 bEnabletrace=1 bLoaddebuginformation=1 Try to find the culprit of those CTDs. In my opinion the random crashes you get are caused by uninstalled mods. Also it would be helpful if every damn person asking the same kind of question would post their loadorder. Seriously, it helps.

I looked at papyrus, and I got a log long enough to cause notepad to stop responding from loading it.

gvman3670 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Then it's pretty obvious what the problem is, isn't it? Once your game (or saves I should say) get to that point they can't be "fixed". They can only be "killed". You need to cut back on the mods you're using. And be more selective in what mods you use. Of course, this is after nuking your game and every shred of it that you can find in your machine (and that means every last tiny bit and byte). So go ahead and start the uninstall process, go to documents/my games/Skyrim and delete that entire folder, search for every Skryim scrap you can find and kill it, then start re-installing it. Load all the unofficial patches first, clean it with TES5Edit and optimize textures (optional here) before you even begin modding it. Then avoid all mods that contain a lot of scripting and never, EVER remove a scripted mod.
