Lovely Rose Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Sooo. like the title says. I have music on my computer i want to put into a radio station? Is it harder than i am thinking? Cuase i been using vlc to play my music while i play fnv and just alt tab to change it or start another band haha. So i was thinking of making a playlist of sorts on nv to just play my music on the game? Like if its extremely hard i might put it off, But anyone have an idea or forum place i can read, like a "how to" lol
RitualClarity Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Perhaps check the Nexus. A few years ago there was a mod that added radio to the game. Use that mod if you can find it as a reference to how to do one for yourself. It shouldn't be that hard however might be tedious and you would likely have to re-encode the music you want to a form that the game can handle. If you are lucky you would be able to copy the coding and just import your re-encoded music into the mod and play.

Snazzishoez Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It's funny seeing this post because I've been looking at this too. The first time I looked at doing this was when I saw Sexout Fleshed Out (SOFO) which has information on how to get this started. I wanted to combine Groovatron and some of my own music, just for fun. Yep, there is a way to use Groovatron messing with FNVEdit, even though it's listed as a conflict. Anyways. It's a little bit of work from what I'm seeing, but not too hard. I've been feeling extremely lazy the past couple days so I'm putting this off. From what I've observed so far you just need to find the music you want and (I think) make sure they are in MPG format. I was looking at Extended New Vegas Radio Generator on Nexus. I think if you check out SOFO and that site on Nexus, it should point you in the right direction. Good luck!
Lovely Rose Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 i been having physical therapy so eh kinda just wanna play atm. haha
DoctaSax Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Well, sofo did all the heavy lifiting, which is adding sound files in the geck pointing to the mp3s, and conditionalized topic lines to the RadioHello radio tab of a quest that point to those sound files, and having a talking activator serve as the broadcaster that keeps 'speaking' that topic. What I leave up to the players - dropping in the mp3s, converting & renaming them by clicking on a few .bat files - is the easy part
RitualClarity Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Wow. Does that mean that you can create your own radio station using SOFO as a base?
DoctaSax Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 If you mean "use the method as a template", sure, it's no different than other radio station mods. If you mean, "use sofo's soundtrack system as a radio station", sure but you're limited by the number of topic lines, sound files, conditions for where you are in the story etc that I added in sofo.

You are correct, the long standing issue with Groovatron and any mods using animations was a conflict with "KnockDownIdles". once this is removed, it will work fine with any mods using animations. In FO3 this is found in the (GRUP) IDLE of F3UmpaAnimation.esp, in FNV in The Groovatron NV.esp it is found under "Idle Animation" and is on the top of the list, just use Fo3Edit or FNVEdit as the case may be and "remove" this. This is especially true when the aninmations seem stuck and both participants, PC and NPC, are just standing there.

It's simple enough to use, and can hold up to 50 tracks. It requires a very specific kind of audio setup, though, otherwise you get awful looping and skipping tracks. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36406/? I can walk you through setting up the audio files, if you'd like, or you can upload the files to a hosting site, PM me the link, and I can convert them into the proper bit depth and sample rate settings for you.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 im still looking for a radio station that plays some disco music, since FO went into the 70's during anchorage and the riots but keeping the 50's feeling
RitualClarity Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Need a disco ball with that radio station.
