I've had a lot of struggle with modding FO3 and FONV due to how much overlap there is. I can't even find a basic starting point for either game, so if anyone knows the basic mods to start out with for both games for the Sexout mods, I'd greatly appreciate getting a clear starting point to where I can get the basics out of the way and save the effort for the optional stuff. I am very program inept and use Vortex to install mods.

To elaborate, the few guides I can find list so much stuff, I encounter things like two different NVSE Extenders that I have no idea if they will conflict with each other (JIP and prideslayer's version), some mods having so many download files I'm not sure which ones I even download (SexoutNG). I've gotten FOMM just in case that is the one to use instead of Vortex but the mods are just so all over the place (to me).

Step 1. Ditch FOMM. There are better mod managers like Vortex and Mod Organizer 2.

Step 2. Specifically for Sexout I have written a guide to set it up and what Sexout mods you can use with it.

It misses some of the newer additions to the Sexout family. Like Diaper Lovers and Sex Assault 2, but otherwise it is up to date.

** Only Requirements and a choice of which Sexout Direction you want to go are mandatory, everything else is optional.

Only reason to use Vortex in my opinion is if you really want to install Nexusmods collections. And even though the folks behind Tale of Two Wastelands come across as arrogant jerks, their Viva New Vegas guide is a great starting point.

Out of curiosity, do I mod FO3 with the same mods?

better to use TaleOfTwoWastelands, as that uses FNV engine, which has lots of bug fixes.

Not better, just different. A Tale of Two Wastelnds has pros and cons. A more stable engine and a lot of bug fixes, but a lot of Fallout 3 mods don't (and will never) work, plus the feel of the FO3 part of the game is totally different. A big plus is that you can use Sexout sex mods while FO3 sex mods are very restricted.
