Stuck at error 142

Hello again. can anyone help me? redownload version 1.10.163 and installed a fresh FO4 did the usual startup stuffs like launching launcher to generate ini download f4se v6.23 put to folder but everytime i test to launch f4se i get this error

deleted the ini from documents to generate a new ini and tried launching to MO2 just crash no log whatsoever from buffout

tried excluding them from web defender but the prob still persist not sure what to do

Think generally peeps say not to install steam in \Program files to begin with as that folder is monitored more

the thing is i have a portable SSD when i tried moving it there since it was recommended that for fast loading but what end up happening was stuck at loading screen, was looking for a fix but after awhile didnt work. so i resorted going back to C drive tho i got hit again with this error and i cant seem to fix it with anything

You can have it on the C:\ drive (i do) just not in the \program files folder , if you want to test it try starting f4se using "Run as Adminstrator" or MO with the same and see if it loads further

hmm this is so weird, so far nothing had fix it other than downloading the version 1.10.984. it was originally at 1.10.163 maybe corrupt f4se?but i download it several times already at site this make no sense at all

There is no need to install FO4 in a different folder than default (Programm Files). The protection is in the first hand that progamms to be installed in this folder need either a trusted installer or you will be asked whether you want to let the application make changes to your system. This is only to protect you from harming your system by perhaps thinking twice. That's more or less all. FO4 plugins are not affected by this. F4SE is an executable application that's normally only copied into this folder. So in case you trust it you can start the f4se_loader.exe as admin (what I do). Your error might be related to the Windows Defender so starting f4se_loader.exe as admin might help. Can you start the Fallout4.exe?

- Buffout 4 1.28.6 is ancient, use Buffout 4 NG (or Addictol) with 1.10.163.0.  No reason to use original Buffout 4 anymore.

- You may be missing the correct Visual C++ Redist

      https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x86.exe - for 32-bit programs, i usually install them both, fo4 is 64-bit

- AV may be blocking loading of a DLL (try whitelisting the whole folder?  i use defender on w11 24h2, and never needed to whitelist anything)

- Your game files could be corrupt, but if running Fallout4Launcher works then it's f4se or Buffout 4.  Considering you said Fallout4Launcher worked fine, and I assume you ran the game once, and the exception is raised from Fallout4.exe then that implies the problem is an F4SE plugin.

- Check Event Viewer to get details on the exception, it should be in Windows Logs / Application when you run Event Viewer.

Try installing VCRedist, and as I mentioned look up what is in Event Viewer and post it.

It's also a bit unclear if your using a downgraded game (i.e. Simple FO4 Downgrader, basically 1.10.163.0 runtime but NG/AE game data), if you are then you can only run the game from F4SE and you have to this plugin installed:

You should run the game once BEFORE downgrading.  Although, I believe just running the Launcher is sufficient and that should still work.

 

Weird, why is it saying VC++ 2015?  It should look like below.

yes as i stated i have done the necessary stuffs to generate the ini im using version 1.10.984, i was originally started from 1.10.163 but no avail on the fix so i though switching versions might help me fix the problem 

i download both version and save both on desktop if ever i need to downgrade my fallout, is that good or bad?

Well depending on how you downloaded and what you downloaded that may be your issue, hard to say.  Simple FO4 Downgrader is the easiest way to downgrade, IMO.

my only prob when using that downgrader everytime i try to login to steam always fail i cant use it entirely tried both downgrader in nexus

you can't launch the game through steam when you downgrade (via simple downgrade method) to 1.10.163.0 for the reason i already mentioned.

this when i freshly install game no mods tested and works then i go downgrade version or is that wrong procedure?

yes i know coz if i did my game will update i always run f4se manually or through MO2 to be safe

The reason you can't run the game through Steam is because a Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader (or similar methods that downgrade to 1.10.163.0) REQUIRES F4SE + Address Library + Backported Archive2 Support System.  Without those three things the game will crash because it doesn't understand the new archive format introduced in NG and later.

 

Why your crashing on NG I can tell you that:

- Buffout 4 1.28.6 won't work with it, it's for 1.10.163.0 runtime only.  Buffout 4 NG supports 1.10.163.0 & 1.10.984.0.

- NG doesn't need Backported Archive2 Support System since it supports the new archive format.  Obviously F4SE is a different version.

 

The other thing to mention is Buffout 4 generally requires/wants xSE Plugin Preloader, if your on 1.10.163.0 you should install 0.2.5.1, and NG should be 0.3.  But if you use Addictol you don't need xSE Plugin Preloader.

i have put buffout 4 NG with Addictol/crash logger everytime i run just crash but no log makes it harder the only thing i get is from 

f4se_loader.log

Yeah, unfortunately it's nothing useful that we didn't already know.  I was hoping it would tell you which DLL.  My guess is you have a corrupt game install, without knowing what your doing I can tell you that steam_api64.dll, Fallout4.exe, and Fallout4Launcher.exe need to be from the same game version.  If your on 1.10.163.0 and steam_api64.dll isn't 202K then that's a problem, and if your on NG/AE and steam_api64.dll isn't 292K then that's also a problem.
