Poor Whiterun

I wish I could have recorded this, but earlier I walked out of my house in Whiterun to see a bunch of red dots on my minimap.  I assumed either Dawnguard or Vampires or something, again.  I turned toward them and see no one, but the dots are quickly swirling around... so I look up.  Four Dragons, flying in a circle.  Yes, FOUR dragons were attacking Whiterun at the same time.  Oh wait, did I say four?  Sorry, there were also two more sitting on buildings.  I dunno what Whiterun did, but they pissed off the dragons.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?  I thought it was freaking hysterical... until I killed them and had to go around reviving the important NPCs that died (like the shopkeeper outside of the blacksmith shop).

In my "serious" game setup, I have LOADS of creature mods installed, and a bashed patch to merge the leveled lists of them all. Basically, I start running up a mountain 'cause I saw a weird looking dragon in the distance, but it wasn't close enough to be agressive. so I approach, when suddenly, I see red and my health goes down. I turn around and noticed I have TWO elder dragons shouting at me, one from the air, one on the ground, so I run away, then the "weird" dragon engages me. Turns out it was a dwemer mechanical dragon that summonned dwarven spiders to try and kill me...

3 dragons, one of them I've never fought before. it didn't last a minute lol (I'll let you guess how it ended)

BTW, did this happen in a vanilla game?

Yea, it happened on my PS3 version a little while ago.  Thankfully, the Alchemy Glitch hadnt been fixed when I made my armor (dunno if its fixed now), so I take like no damage from anything.

What was the mod that gave you the dwemer dragon?

This one i beleive, i remember i got attacked by one when i still had it installed. Also there is a Dwarven Mechanical Dragons mod on nexus.

I've played Skyrim a LOT on both PC and XBox, yet have never seen a dragon attack Whiterun. I haven't seen one attack Riften either now that I think about it. I've seen every other town attacked, though.

I was leaving the Thieves Guild, and I walked away from my computer for a few minutes while it was loading.  When I came back, I heard a dragon blowing fire, but I guess I was safe xD

I use DCO too, but I don'T think that's what added that specific dragon. He was guarding a dwemer ruin a bit north of Riften.

I use SkyMoMod http://www.moddb.com/mods/skymomod-v12

I even says in the description it adds 70 new dragon types, so I think that's what it came from. Well, it definitely makes Skyrim a LOT more diverse.

Oh, and you want even MORE fun with dragon? install fire and ice overhaul. Makes fire spread like a real fire would, and ice create solid chunks, so until it melts you can literally trap an enemy in it (you can also get trapped, be careful)

My last dragon burned the whole of Falkreath...

:-/ but ... wheres the fun then???

Well, you CAN have fun if you want to make the game with "realistic" armor, so you don't need to look weird to have good armor rating, or have a reasonnable attack value.

I had a battlemage that wore nothing but banded iron armor and a hood, and I'd simply re-upgrade the armor every level. I had quite a lot of fun with it

The most Dragons I've seen at once was 3... One was Dwarven (pain in the butt!!!), but they attacked as soon as I left Riften, between the spiders and the flames, my poor Bella didn't last long... thank the 9 they didn't respawn when it reloaded !!!

Reading this thread, it suddenly occurs to me I haven't had a dragon attack a main city since the first time I played the game, without mods, all the way back at release. Just one encounter in Riften. How strange. Surely it should have happened more than one time in like a thousand hours of Skyrim?

Almost every time I leave a building at Winterhold College there's a damned dragon attacking. Or in Winterhold itself. Falkreath, Dawnstar and Morthal have been hotspots as well, even a couple of times in Windhelm and Solitude. But STILL never a single dragon attack in Whiterun, Markarth or Riften and I can't imagine why. And, with no exaggeration at all, I've played Skyrim a few thousand hours total between XBox and PC. Probably over 2000 on XBox alone. :o

Well, of course the "open cites" are really often attacked. Winterhold... I swear all dragons are born there!

But I've had an attack on Whiterun, and one on windhelm, in all my 1000 hours.

I think that mostly happens because dragons tha attack open cities are actually out in the wilds, near the town. In the closed cities, the game has to calculate a random chance of it happenning.

Pretty damn sure that with Open Cities installed, whiterun gets attacked WAY more often

Haha!!! I wish I had your problem with attracting Dragons... I have like 4 or 5 words of power that need souls...  knowing my luck, they will show up all at once! :)

On my PS3, I have 13 dragon souls and no words to use them with.  On Steam, I have 6.

That stuff is even more frustrating with Dragonborn: once you triggered a certain even, Miraak will randomly appear and steal the soul of the dragon you just killed.

Did I mention that it can happen in regular Skyrim too, and that he can do it a few times in a row?
