Warning: Beware the March 17 patch

Multiple players are going online to report that after today's patch, most of their mods and CC have disappeared from the game, even after turning them back on in the settings. Best to play offline for a while.

Yup, just happened to me too. Especially annoying considering I just wanted to restart the game after a lot hasn't been loading.

It's too late to do anything this go around, but for the future, I'd recommend turning auto-updates off, and when patch day comes around, simply play in offline mode until your favorite modders give the green light that their mods work with the new patch.

Script mods are the main problem right? custom contents usually dont bother the update, do they??

Yeah, I just booted into my game, and re-enabled the mods, but now, I can't even interact with things. I reckon WW might be broken.

Not this time. It's package files causing the problem. Seems likely that it's a bad bug in the update that makes the game not recognize most of your package files, so they don't even load.

I can confirm. Some (but not all) of my CC clothes and other CAS details are missing. I haven't found any consistency in what is there and what is not yet.

yup, unfortunately we just have to wait for EA to revert/fix the patch which i'm sure they'll do considering how much of the TS4 playerbase exists because of CC. i suspect it'll all be back by tomorrow at least.

Probably just going to delay things even more, though, since it sounds like most modders either can't or won't bother trying to find what they need to fix until EA takes care of their end of it.

i don't expect anything to be wrong functionally with any packages, it seems to me the issue is that the new patch has effected the way the files are recognized

Sounds like it. EA says they have identified the issue and are working on a hotfix.

 

But it sounds like some scripts are going to break, too. Basemental and MCCC both already looking at potential issues.

 

I think everyone thought this was supposed to be a minor patch, and it caught everyone by surprise.

Thankfully, I Just got back into FO4 a few days ago after several months off. I just spent a day or so making sure it was all running smoothly and all my pervy mods were doing their thing -  Looks like it'll be Fallout for the next week or so...I might dip back into project Zomboid as well seeing as its been a while for that as well.

couldn't tell you how many times i've had to hold off and play offline for days (weeks?) over the years.

but, what i can say is, this is the first, and last, time that i say "fuck it, i'm tired of this shit", before i read multiple email/updates etc. filled with warnings to not update, click on the update button and walk away. three minutes later, finally checked my email, and mutter mutter mutter mutter

I feel you. Seems like they push out so many patches, sometimes you're just tempted to say, "screw this, it can't be that bad."

Wow, they've killed the ability to purchase TS4 content from Steam now! Looks like the Royalty DLC was my last Sims purchase for this game (I have 95 TS4 DLC in my Steam library). I won't be forced into their market place.

 

What a dirty little EA trick!

They only delisted the kits. You can still purchase anything else available.

It's not necessarily scummy. It's obviously a microtransaction scheme, but you're not forced. That was obvious from the day of the announcement. They even launched it with one of the kits for free. You'd had to have put money into it somehow to get anything in the first place. Anything else, you're not precluded from getting directly from Steam or anywhere else.
