dphares Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 the instructions keep mentioning a folder. i'm showing a 7Z file only. no folder. does this work? does it need to be extracted somehow?
gvman3670 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Which file is zipped? SexLab? Yes, it needs to be unzipped/decompressed and placed into the data folder in your Skryim directory. Assuming you already have FNIS installed, after placing SL into your data folder you need to open Skryim/data/tools and find the .exe file that is the FNIS animations generator "for users". I'd suggesting placing a shortcut for this on your desktop because you'll be using it often (every time you add or remove a mod with animations). If you are using a custom skeletion (and you SHOULD be using the XPMS skeleton) be sure to check the "arm fix" in the FNIS generator before running it. You should see the FNIS tool showing that it's reading SexLab or you did something wrong.
dphares Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 could you dumb this down a bit? how do i decompress it? i haven't decompressed either one. they are both just sitting in my data folder atm.
gvman3670 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 OK, we'll start by moving them out of the data folder. Put them anywhere, in a temp folder somewhere, on your desktop...wherever. Now you need an archive tool. I would suggest using 7zip. It's free and it works for all kinds of compressed files. Here's where to get it. http://www.7-zip.org/download.html How new are you to this modding thing? I am thinking quite new? No worries, it has to start somewhere. Right? Here is a video series that all new modders will benefit from. Watch them. He'll cover how to unzip folders, how to place the data into the right folders and how to use mod manager tools as well. Spend the time watching them so you don't wreck your game, and modding it wrong WILL wreck it.
Someone92 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 To get started look at this page: http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/1tywsc/in_an_effort_to_make_this_sub_easier_to_use_for/ Several good tutorials and video tutorials are linked there.
dphares Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 learning is fun! thank you! and yes, new to this. i got quite into warcraft addons a few years back. a buddy has rekindled my interest in skyrim. just downloaded some 21 mods off steam.
dphares Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 jesus.. well... since that time. i downloaded 21 mods through steam. then i realized i hadn't downloaded nexus mod manager. so i did that. it detected 16 of them. so.... any horrifying conflicts between the two i should be aware of? then i tried to auto download fnis through nmm and it ... failed. so i used your extract program to create an fnis folder... then copied that into the data folder... and now its... NOT detected. i also unzipped the sexlab file and created another folder. which was also copied. so should i copy the contents only and not the folder itself?
