Zaselim Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 hey guys.. I use Nexus Mod manager. It was alright last time when i was playing the game on 24th jan. Now every time i launch the game, its shows no mods in the game like is not detecting any mods from NMM. Plz help me out to solve this problem, I will be very grateful.
gvman3670 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 That really sucks. I had the exact same thing happen to me just recently (less than two weeks ago). I played and everything was fine, then the next day I couldn't make any mods show up at all. They were showing as active in NMM's list and in the data files list in the Skyrim launcher. A couple would work after uninstalling and reinstalling, but not all of them would. So I wasted hours doing that to no avail. So I have no idea how to fix this. Sorry. What I do know is that I re-installed Skryim and am now using Mod Organizer. Now this can't happen again and I'll never ever have to re-install my game and all my mods (saving me countless hours overall, I should have switched sooner).

Guest Ragna_Rok Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 jeeeeez folks. i know mod organizer is better than the nmm (to be fair ... its hard to be worse than nmm ) if you install stuff manually, never any problems again. and dont forget to "like" the manual i made
Guest Ragna_Rok Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 you said you use Nexus mod manager. thats AUTO install. NOT manual installation.
Guest Ragna_Rok Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 i really have to wonder when finally more ppl realize that skyrim is way more stable if you just learn how to download and install a file manually, than save a couple of clicks to do so and for that risk any program to fuck up their game. i cant do more than explain it in my manual step by step. ANY PROGRAM, MOD ORGANIZER, NEXUS MOD MANAGER, ETC, HAS A CHANCE TO INSTABILIZE YOUR GAME. THIS CHANCE OF FUCKING UP YOUR GAME IS MUCH MUCH SMALLER WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD; AND INSTALL YOUR MODS MANUALLY. the only advantage they have is when you cant track your mods, and need the latest update. often enough a mod was changed to the worse by an update for me (new features i didnt like), so i once in a while look those up that i like.
gvman3670 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 While I love your manual install guide (something every Bethesda modder should know), I do have to point out that using NMM is no different (functionally) besides it directing mods files into their respective folders. It puts the data into the folders in the Skyrim directory, exactly what manual installs do. Adding/removing manually does the same "damage" than NMM does. And, as noted above, manual installs can still do this (when it happened to me all mods besides those with BAIN option installers were actually installed manually ). Zaselim even said he installed them manually (and was probably just using NMM instead of the Skyrim Launcher to read the active plugin list).

I use Nexus Mod manager. ---> hard to misunderstand. You'd think, but didn't he also say he installed them all manually? So, did he just use the NMM active plugin list to sort and enable/disable mods? Or did he install with NMM, but go the manual route instead of the download and automatic install route? Those are the questions. But regardless, his game is probably fragged at this point. All that's left is offering options that can prevent this from happening again. I'd suggest switching to MO since that is guaranteed to prevent that because of how it functions.
Zaselim Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 ok I just used the MO but same issue.. I use NMM to sort and enable/disable my mods.. Now i'm going to try the launcher method, Since i have my load order and plugins txt files I think I won't be selecting the mods again
Rayblue Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I think there might be a problem where it's possible that your loadlist isn't there. The loadlist is located here by default: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Skyrim
Zaselim Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 I think there might be a problem where it's possible that your loadlist isn't there. The loadlist is located here by default: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Skyrim yes its there.. I also checked with Skyrim launcher but again same issue.. So what actually happened here, are all the mods corrupted some how? is there a issue with skyrim.exe and skse loader.. I have a backup of my skyrim from 12 dec 2013, Will it work ok if i run the game from that backup or What will happen if i copy the tesv.exe and all the main game files from that backup into my current skyrim? Will it work then?.
Zaselim Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Ok i had another backup from 27 oct 2013 and it worked fine so which files do i replace from my last backup (12 dec 2013) with my current skyrim?
Zaselim Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Ok guys I restored my skyrim by copying the skyrim backup from 12 dec 2013 to my pc then install all the mods I installed from 12 dec to 24th Jan and then copied all my custom mods and folders and animations etc. I am short of one mod I think and my skyrim was 90gb and now my restored skyrim is 85gb and my latest saves aren't loading, The game crashes when i load the save i made after 4th January. Mat be something to do with that one mod. May be it was Alternate Character tweaks or Alternate NPC Tweaks because I installed it and after using it i didn;t like it so disable it. May be some script files it has are now missing from my newly restored skyrim and making it crash when i load the latest saves.. I also installed PS Universal PC NPC body but it also has issues when you use it for you player character so I disabled it as well and may be that is the reason as well for the crash. I will install these two mods and then see what happens..
Zaselim Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Ok I restored my skyrim completely (90gb) with all saves working.. Thanks for your help guys. I think from now own I am gonna use MO cause i didn't like the Interface of Data files section in Skyrim Launcher.. Again Thanks..
