Devious Device - Escape Options

Hey All!

 

I have been modding my Skyrim for a bit now after taking a 5+ year break. I have a fairly stable build that seems to work well, and I am not just looking for those mods that smooth out the rough edges. One rough edge I ran into recently involves the Devious Devices. Personally, I enjoy having them in the game and have the enemies use them, but I do not like my character being locked away for hours. I know you can turn the difficulty of the Escape down, but I am actually looking for a specific escape option. I remember when I had modded my Skyrim previously there was an option to use Magic to escape, but I do not see that option under the current list in game. I am thinking I may have had a different mod that handled that. Since I am playing an almost 100% dedicated Mage, the Struggle/Pick Lock/Cut Open options all rely on skills I don't use much. 

 

So my question is, do you all know of a mod for Special Edition that allows Escape from Devious Devices using Magic abilities?

This mod has escape options involving magic: either using fire spell or telekinesis to escape.

From my experience - Unforgiving Devices are by far and away the best option for DD escape overhaul. It does more than that, but thats primary reason i use it. Has a minigame that is tied to your stats and skills, can use magic skill.  Difficulty is easily customizable.

That is interesting. I have Devious Lore loaded (plus I have Telekinesis and am playing as a Fire Mage), but I do not see Magic as an option on the list to escape. I will double check the settings and see if I missed a tick box that allows that when I log on next.

 

 

EDIT: I see the problem. I have not been using Devious Lore's option to escape a Devious Device. I have been clicking on the device in the Inventory menu, so I am probably just relying on the basic DD mod for removal. That is probably why the Magic escape did not present.

Devious Lore is an LE mod that has been transferred/translated to SE. In LE it doesn't matter if your location keywords have underscores - but on SE it matters. When saving in a location with underscore, the game forgets your character's ID and your savegame folder will be spammed with new saves for each autosave, and you'll be unable to find your 'real' saves under that character's name. It doesn't hinder you from playing, but it's a real nuisance.

Got it! I have the Devious Lore SE-AE 3.0.2 loaded right now and do not have that problem with the Save files.

That problem only occurs when you quit the game and restart from a save in that location. (or any other location that's soiled with underscores)
