gvman3670 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Any ideas here, folks?  I was playing yesterday and everything was fine. No issues at all. But today? I start my game and I have no mods working at all. MCM is recognizing my SKSE plugings and apparently everything I added manually was functioning (like I could initiate SL mods and hear the sounds, but no animations because FNIS wasn't functioning for some reason). My skin textures were there, too, but on a vanilla body wearing the fugly Skyrim undies!  It seems that everything I added with NMM was non-functional (besides a jewelry collection for some reason). And everything I added manually seemed to still be there (besides the SG 220 hairpack, but that could be because ECE, which was installed with NMM, wasn't functioning either).  I tried multiple save loads and no changes. I launched without SKSE and no mods loaded (besides manually installed). So I tried just uninstalling ECE in NMM then re-installing it figuring that if I went back into the game and brought up the showracemenu I could see if it worked or not. But when I tried to start the game after that it crashed immediately.  So it seems to me that NMM went and shit the bed on me? Probably? Would that be a reasonable assumption?  Has this happened to anyone else?
gvman3670 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I tried a bunch of things and nothing seems to help. So I'm just gonna' nuke it and start over I guess. Not a huge deal really as I've already created a backup that just needs moved (it should save me a long time in downloading and installing). Â I'm still curious whether this happened to anyone else or not.
CGi Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 if Mod Organizer is not to intimidating with it's functionality, switch over to it instead of using NMM.it renders the need of having to reinstall obsolete and you can easily completly disable a mod by just unticking it, w/o any left overs. it offer full NMM functionality like checking for updates or using NMM links (download with NMM) and other stuff like fixing the string length in the Skyrim engine and adds the ability to load BSAs that normaly use a dummy ESP directly, so you can remove dummy ESPs and this way freeing up your load order. The Brawl Bugs Patch is such an example. Another comfort function is that you'll never have to overwrite a file from another mod as all mods are seperated from each other. This way you can install in any order and replace files from one mod with the files from another by just changing the mod load order in the same way you would do it manually with the plugin load order.Any many other stuff that makes modding alot easier. it ofc got a downside too, as it's not really modder friendly. But there are ways to fix this. Â Did i mention that it works for TESIV, FO3 and FO:NV as well?
gvman3670 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I did play around with MO a while back. It seemed alright, but it was a bit more confusing to use....more to take in all at once. I am actually considering trying it again, though.
CGi Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 There's an MO Help thread from AwfulArchdemon. it's not complete if you really go in-dept, but cover all basics to get you started. So if you got questions, ask them there so this guide can cover more and more informations.
Loyotaemi Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 MO is worth it. I spent about 2 days straight moving all my stuff over. Now Problems that would take forever to fix literally is just simply copy and pasting at some points. Was able to Seperate my game into a Requiem and Skyre profile literally in 30 minutes. It starts out confusing, but once you throw in a couple mods, it starts getting really easy to navigate and understand.
