NVSE - can it be modified like SKSE?

On the website enbdev.com http://enbdev.com/ctdfix.html there is a topic about recompiling SKSE to allocate memory blocks differently.

I tried it and the difference is astounding. For the first time ever, I was able to run the roads of Skyrim. From Riverwood to Markarth, to Winterhold, to Windhelm, Ivarstead, Riften, The Dawnguard hold, High Hrothgar, and back to Whiterun via Helgen. All in one trip, without saving, CTD, or lockup.

With my 4 year old system I was finally able to load 2k textures and increase Ugrids to 7.

My question here is, can this be done to NVSE or is this comparing apples to oranges?

Would be nice to get some extra performance out of New Vegas.

I tried it out today and wondered the same thing. The Skse Ini trick seemed too good and rudimentary to be true but when i tried it out it worked amazingly well. My new Vegas does not crash often but it would be neat to see if it can be done for NVSE too.

I have literally every texture in Fallout New Vegas upgraded to hi res which is a lot since I use Tale of two wastelands and upgrade Fallout 3 as well. I use Enb too.

With just NVAC - http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/ My game never crashes.

New Vegas doesn't have the same memory limitations that Skyrim has, it's just horribadly fucked up from Obsidian tinkering with it. Luckily nvac fixes that and is currently fixing more each week.

So pretty much the memory tweak isn't needed. But it would be nice to see someone fix its software... I love you Obsidian but what the fuck... The game still gets pretty laggy if you play it for too long and you have to turn it off and back on like a old router. The stutter remover reduces it but since it wasn't made for Fallout it's effects are limited compared to the Oblivion version which it was made for.

O yeah and you can use nvac with Skyrim as a poor mans crash log. Since Skyrim doesn't have one it's better than nothing.

For lagging in New Vegas, I use cleanMem at 2 minute intervals.

For stutter, I use OneTweak along with  the stutter remover dll from elys

Thanks for NVAC mention, I have never even heard of that one, will give it a try.

What I was hoping  was, if NVSE can be modified same way as SKSE, the major slow down we get when we run More Ghouls, plus More Fiends, plus Military Expansion Program, plus AWOP, plus Populated Casinos, might be alleviated a little.

The one thing I find  wrong with New Vegas is how truly empty it is. Fill it up and game bogs down.

From what I understand, ENB in FONV is much more rudimentary than the one in Skyrim, and I believe development on the FONV one has stopped. NVSE could probably be patched to do what's being discussed in the thread, but I'm not really sure that it would help FONV the way it helps Skyrim.

I'll add it to the "check this out when there's time, haha" list. Jaam may find it interesting enough to look at before then. :)

Just confirming:  Downloading One Tweak from the Skyrim Nexus IS compatible with Fallout NV, yes?

And Fallout 3 and Oblivion, read the Nexus page

Interestingly enough, they didn't patch ENB they patched SKSE "skse_steam_loader.dll"

It now reads an .ini file for configuration, and allocates memory to TESV.exe differently.

Right. OBSE, FOSE and NVSE would need modded the same way, both to read/write the INI file and to make use of the settings. On the upside, the codebases between the *SE's are similar enough that it may be easier than it seems at first blush.
