Hey, folks. Looks like that Bethesda decided to launch next "updates" or something like that. Turn off the auto-update, if you don't want to shitup your modlists and game.

As part of its Fallout Day broadcast, Bethesda announced Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition, due out across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on November 10, 2025

Yesterday evening, another mod author wrote something like this: "Now that the constant updates have calmed down, I can finally resume work on my mod."

Huh. And now Bethesda announced another updates...Why they cannot calm down?  Anyway they can't do something better than moders did...Oh no, they can do one good thing - start to develop Fallout 5

Because of paid mods, it's that simple.

Good thing is that when they fire paid mods and begin to grab cash from dumbasses, they seem to calm down about the game updates (Skyrim AE didn't have a lot of those after paid mods were added).

So, it's time for the next complete backup of FO4 latest on Nov. 9. Only to be sure.

In addition set Steam to update the game only on game start and start the game through the f4se_launcher.exe. Otherwise the download might still start and fail in case you only have set the appmanifest to read only. In case you made a backup and forgot to prevent FO4 from updating you can delete the FO4 game folder and play your backup back after the update is finished. When it works like with the last update Steam will now believe that your game is updated. This all only in case the AE comes as update and not as separate game or paid upgrade.

From what I gather it's not a maintenance update it's a package deal with a bunch of broken CC crap you'll have to pay for. At least I hope so, cause that Anniversary Edition is shite. I guess if you've never played FO4, it'd look pretty good... until buyer remorse set in later. 🤣

By all accounts, TES VI will be out before FO5. I think I saw someone's guesstimate of 2032 for FO5. I'm sure it's easy enough to conjure up all sorts of wild, unfounded stabs in the dark as to when both games will be out. Best answer for me is "Not any time soon."
