OBSE and Game Overlay Not Working

When my computer updated to Win11, it messed up Oblivion (GOTY2009).  Oblivion worked perfectly the day before.

 

Today it doesn't work.  So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it.

I re-downloaded and re-installed OBSE, according to the instructions in the ReadMe. 

I re-downloaded and re-installed all six mods (UOP, UOP Shivering Isles, Kuertee's Eat & Sleep, Anvil Mansion Walls Rebuilt, Return the Stolen Items, and Alla's Skyrim Tweaks ((My own mod, obviously)) -- long list, I know, hehe).

In Steam itself, I went to Settings>In Game and made sure Enable the overlay was ON.

In the Steam library window I right-clicked TESIV:ObGOTY2009, Properties>General and again made sure the overlay was ON.

Howerver --

The overlay doesn't show and isn't functioning.

OBSE is not functioning.

 

I swear to Talos, the dratted thing worked JUST FINE last Wednesday night.

Then windows did whatever the snotbunnies it did, and today.... well... as above.  The overlay isn't working which prevents OBSE from working.

Apparently it's sort of there, because UOP/UOP-SI doesn't crash; they both seem to load, which, obviously, they wouldn't if OBSE wasn't there. 

 

The wierd thing is the overlay works perfectly in Skyrim, and SKSE is working perfectly, as are those mods.

 

So what in the utter heck is going on?  I'm going nuts, does anyone have any ideas?

 

EDIT -- My installation path is C > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Oblivion

Has there been a Windows update since Wednesday night?   This problem occurred a few months ago. Don't remember if it was Win10 or 11.

Remove to update or do not play until the next update and hope they fixed it.

 

If there was no Win update I don't know.

I am so happy that I have a Oblivion disc version. I can install the entire game even if the internet is completely down.  I have all dlc, patch and all tools including OBSE.

When we moved from the trailer to the house, I tripped over a box of games.  Guess which disc was the one I stepped on?  Yeah.  My Ob disc.  And I always thought hey, no big deal, now Steam handles it.  *sigh*

You could be right about Windows11 needing more updates or needing to "finish" getting itself all installed.  I'll cross my fingers and wait a while.  Thanks, Fejeena!

I'm now at my wits' end.  No matter *what* I do, the overlay DOES NOT work in Oblivion.

It works in Skyrim.  It works in all 3 Witchers.  It works in Morrowind.  But no matter what I turn on or turn off, in Steam or anywhere else, no matter what I uninstall -- Including now uninstalling Steam itself, reinstalling, and reinstalling Oblivion -- NOTHING works.

 

Why ONLY oblivion?  If it works everywhere else, why NOT Oblivion?  I'm seriously losing my mind here, so any help would be appreciated!  Heck, any wild ideas would be appreciated!

Since U already Legally bought Oblivion, It won't hurt anyone if U torrent download non stream oblivion Goty edition Then install it in other driver than C:\ & IF necessary U can use some programs like VirtualBox to create other old windows system inside windows 11 to run old games correctly.
