gvman3670 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Town retextures and the lights/lanterns of Skyrim really zapped my machine whenever I went into towns (but adding trees did very little). They gave me a major FPS hit and I'm on a lower powered machine so I can easilyly see what costs me FPS. Polulated cities and towns can also get you (there's just so much more to render). Lighting effect mods hit me hard, too. Even footprints make a noticeable difference. I'd bet that just removing a few things there would make a very noticeable change for you based on what has effected me.

Cyndi Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Like Lother said, A lot of it looks like it's coming from some of those HEAVY ASS scripted mods. Wet and Cold + Footprints, unless they've had serious scripting updates since I tried using them.... you're probably losing 5-10 fps to each of those (granted it has been awhile since I tried them out). Depending on your defeat npc vs npc settings and ugrids, all those extra spawns from patrols etc. & populated w/e's probably aren't helping. Remember too, all those extra npc are getting hit with the scripts from W&C and footprints too on top of that so.... Speaking of Immersive patrols, Im pretty sure the newest one has an all-in-one esp again (grabbed an update myself the other day). I didn't see the Unofficial Hearthfire Patch in there, it might actually help a bit in terms of script lag. I found it cut down on a crap load of papyrus errors in my log. I'm not familiar with DHC Hotkeys, but if it's anything like 'More hotkeys please', then it's another heavy hitter on the script engine.
cornbreadtm Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Slow down guys. Script lag =/= fps. These two things are not directly related. You don't have to do anything to the script based mods in your load order. Fps is all about optimizing Skyrim in relation to you PC set up. Apparently your game can't handle all of the extra npcs, increased polygon meshes, and hi res textures that you are placing into it. Reducing the amount of two of these things will get your frame rate back up into the 40~60 range. The rest is Skyrim.ini optimization. If you only really play for screenshots then leave it at the 40~60 range, if you actually play the game then reduced your shadows to as low as possible it will crack you fps up by a lot, the increase depends on your system. You can make 2 sets of inis, one for SSs which will have your regular shadow settings and one for playing which will have reduced settings.
