This evening Steam did an update. i have now tried to load a save via Mo2 and the save is there and i can load in but all of my mods are not working, even though in Mo2 they all active. I did not get any corrupt save warning either. I am just bald and naked and all of my MCM is gone and its as if some mods are trying to boot up from scratch as if its the first time i ever used them., can anyone help?? pleeeease

I am so confused :(  Its loading my save. all my quests are at the same state they was in, i am in thew same location i was in when i last saved the game. But all of my MCM was empty and its now taking slowly reinstalling every single mod. Sexlab is not even showing installed in MCM. i am having to install that too and CF , all of my MCM mods are reset. my hair has reset, eyes have reset. yet my face and figure are the created ones from, Bodyslide. Its so confusing. Has anyone else had anything like this occur? its doing it on every save i ever made. i cant get any save to load any of my MCm saves.

Maybe load order has changed in so drastic way that all/main plugins are forced to (re)init?

Last update to Skyrim was 1.8 years ago. Something else happened here.

Meaning saves have lost their script data, or the form ids for everything have changed. While I can't think of anything that would cause form ids to shift, it's even less likely that all saves magically lost all their script data.

Meaning the SKSE cosave is fine.

Sure, MO2 can do this sometimes, except when it happens all mods are actually gone which by the sound of it is not what you're seeing. Another thing that at least used to do it was when you ran the Skyrim launcher and it changed plugins.txt to only include official DLC. Something similar happened with the Creation Club where it would change plugins.txt to only include DLC + Paid CC content.

Start with a sanity check:

  1. What's the contents of plugins.txt?
  2. What's the contents of loadorder.txt?

Remember that, since you're using MO2, these files are in the current MO2 profile folder.

Edit: To clarify, I personally don't care what the contents of those files are; those are rhetorical questions. You should compare those to what MO2 is telling you: plugins.txt is the list of plugins to load, loadorder.txt is the order in which they're loaded. If something is in loadorder.txt but not in plugins.txt, it won't be loaded.

Bitte

As another user already wrote - the last Skyrim update was almost 2 years ago... For 3 years, I prevented Steam from automatically updating my games (from SE to AE) (permanent offline mode).

So what's supposed to have happened to you now (aka today)?

Which Skyrim version did you have BEFORE the "update" and which version are you supposed to have now? That would really help us here.

After such an update, I wouldn't even try to load an old save game - instead, start a new character and find out what's still working in the game and the mods (like the race menu, for example).

If the game starts after the update, then the correct Skyrim version must be present - but that isn't automatically updated by Steam.

Did an "update" actually take place - or is your MO2 simply (as already mentioned) experiencing a major "hiccupation"?

Actually, Steam itself updated a day or two ago.

Twice.

I know, since I'm on data plan and had to swallow those updates on two different machines. It was painful.

But my Skyrim works just fine.

Zweimal.

Ich weiß das, denn ich habe einen Datentarif und musste diese Updates auf zwei verschiedenen Maschinen schlucken. Es war schmerzhaft.

Aber mein Skyrim funktioniert einwandfrei.

Before I went into permanent offline mode for almost three years, Steam regularly had an update (at least) once a week.

And yes, in such a context, a game could also be updated itself.

But as I already wrote, the last update for Skyrim was about two years ago.
