Blushing When Aroused - Experimental Performance Improvements and Fixes 4.0

View File

This mod was modified based on Blushing When Aroused – Experimental Performance Improvements and Fixes by BeranabusBarnes. Honestly, writing this kind of post is a bit of a hassle, but I thought it would be good for many SexLab users to have access to it, so I went ahead and made the post.

The original script structure was way too complicated, so I relied a lot on ChatGPT’s help to figure things out.

Requirement

Sexlab

A mod related to SexLab Arousal (There are lots of versions, so just choose whichever works for you.)

SPID

Next-Gen Decapitations (Without this mod, you’ll experience CTDs.)

What did I change?
As some of you know, using cloak spells to run a mod puts a heavy load on scripts. The original mod worked with cloak spells, but I rebuilt it to work with SPID instead. The original mod also had a limit on the number of NPCs it could affect—up to 50 max. By restructuring it to run with SPID, I completely removed that NPC limit.

The main reason I decided to modify this mod was because of the random NPC blush bug. Under the assumption that blush is applied to NPCs, sometimes NPCs would suddenly get max blush even when I wasn’t doing anything—and neither were they. It was super annoying, so I modified the mod and added scripts into the suspected bug-causing scripts to clear blush when it happens. Honestly, I still don’t know exactly why those scripts cause the bug in the first place.

Anyway, I tested it roughly and it seems to work, but to be fair, there might be other issues that come up while using it. If it’s not something I run into myself, I don’t really bother, so you’ll either have to fix it yourself or just deal with it.

Also, keep in mind that if you use race conditions for blush application, it may not work depending on your translation. That’s because this mod’s race condition system relies on the localized name, not the English name. For example, “Dark Elf” in Korean is “다크 엘프,” but since the condition is based on the English name, it won’t work. This could be fixed in the scripts, but honestly it’s tedious, not that important, and I don’t use that feature myself, so I didn’t bother. Sorry about that.

Can you make it compatible with

?!

Does it not detect the race already?

*EDIT: NM, I see what you mean. The Ciri head uses different texture mapping than typical Skyrim heads. Would have to re-create all the textures to match and then add code to have the custom race use them.
TL;DR; It would probably require a lot of effort to make it work.

Does it work on its own, or does it require the original mod?

On its own, it looks like this, and it is impossible to understand how to configure it.

You don’t need the original mod. It seems there isn’t a translation of the interface in your language, so go into the BWA mod’s interface folder to resolve it.

Really appreciate the updates to what used to be one of my favorite mods that I didn't use because it would always either bloat my save or just stop working after awhile. I do have one question; with the original mod, the blushes were nice and smooth like in the screenshots of the original mod. Now the blushes have a hard edge and so I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I looked at the textures and they look pretty much the same other than the resolution so I'm pretty much at a loss as to why it would look so different.

Just about to install this mod so I may be way off, but did you edit Skee64.ini alpha values?

Here's mine:

Quote

[Overlays/Data]
; Assigns these alpha properties to all overlays when they are applied
; 4844, 128 is recommended for solid overlays (they will render correctly underwater)
; Changing the overlay's alpha value ingame acts like 4845 regardless of assigned flags
iAlphaFlags=4845 ; Default[4845]
iAlphaThreshold=0 ; Default[0]
sDefaultTexture=textures\actors\character\overlays\default.dds

Changing the AlphaFlags, or maybe it's AlphaThreshold to 128 will cause that. If you're worried about under water transparencies or overlays disappearing, there's an addon for Racemenu on its Nexus page that helps with it.

Thanks, do you have the name of that mod? I went through everything that lists racemenu as a requirement and didn't see anything obvious that fixes transparencies.

Modified Overlay Meshes under Misc files of the Racemenu downloads page. It doesn't have its own page.

After playing with this mod for a while, the magic and item menu both take ~2 seconds to open compared to opening instantaneously. The MCM menu also broke down. Using an older save, it's the same ~2 second issue but it goes away after ~10 seconds after loading the save and I can use the MCM. It seems this mod produces uneven stacks or something too when I open up resaver? Character faces are sometimes purple on load. Lastly, late game saves fail to load after uninstalling this mod.

It's possible that other mods are the culprit for some of the issues I'm experiencing, but not for the late game stacks (BWAF or similar), purple face which goes away if conditions are reset, and save load fail upon uninstall.

Different versions of this mod have always had problems, but to this extent I have to assume a dead pointer or something is just messing up memory everywhere. It's a shame because blushing is a cool effect in general, it's an aesthetic and immersive way to check the arousal of characters without having to pull up a number.

After playing for some time, there are significant stack-related issues causing freezing.

After cleaning the save or uninstalling mods, the save file will become unloadable.

Unfortunately I think this has issues, as others have suggested. Every save i've tried this on ends up with multiple stacks from this mod running constantly in the background. Right now I have EIGHT active BWANPC scripts running in a 4 hour save, using the default mod settings with SL.

Anyone got any info about this mod? It seems fucked but also promises more stability than BeranabusBarnes version. Like description of this mod says it helps fix script stacks but comments say otherwise

4 years and never had an issue with the original, tried this for the supposed improvements but at the end of the day it's worst, not only is slow but sometimes it doesn't work, at 100 arousal and cero blush? I remove it, reinstalled the original and works like a charm, and even with the original mod warning of the decapitation issue I never had a ctd for it.
