A lot of sites that I visit have optional donation or subscription models which allow for a way to view the site without advertisements. usually it is a simple flag that shuts off the advertisement banners and seems to work well on a lot of places. Personally this would give me a way to give money back for all the downloads I do from this site and maybe others and also allow me to have the main site up when family visit.
