Bluegunk Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 (edited) The Scent of Sex mod seems to have a buried error that makes it impossible to identify a "Specific" NPC when creating a rule. The rule editor allows me to specify an individual, but clicking on "Add This Actor" , nothing happens. Going on to Save and Go Back flashes up a warning message (see pic). I've been through every permutation of factions, fellowships, etc. and always hit a blank wall. I know absolutely nothing about scripts and what I do know is likely highly dangerous to any mod.Ā Perhaps a Script Guru might scan the script and see what's going on? Ā I can understand if you don't want to be bothered. It's a speculative question, anyway, and not that important. Ā Thanks for reading to the end. Ā OK. So I use "Pick An Actor" (and you can see the actor in the picture) and then I click on "Add This Actor".Ā Nothing seems to happen, even if I wait for ages. traison Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 (edited) The reason why it's not working is becauseĀ PO3_SKSEFunctions.GetFormEditorID(...) is returning None or an empty string. The Papyrus function "GetFormEditorID" exported by Papyrus Extender calls a vanilla game function with the same name declared in the Form object. So what it returns is decided by the game engine. While it probably won't do much,Ā consider updating or otherwise changingĀ Papyrus Extender. Ā If it's still not working, which is probably the case, the only thing I can think of is to replace all calls to Papyrus Extender's GetFormEditorID with a Papyrus implementation I made and have been using for years. It's probably a thousand times slower than a native c++ implementation simply because of the nature of Papyrus, but afaik it works: string Function GetEditorId(form object) Global {Returns the editor id of the specified form.} string haystack = object as string int from = StringUtil.Find(haystack, "<") + 1 int to = StringUtil.Find(haystack, " ", from) Return StringUtil.Substring(haystack, from, to - from) EndFunction Ā Edit: The fast and dirty way of doing that replacement would be to editĀ PO3_SKSEFunctions.pex. traison Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Hm, interesting. So the game thinks that actor does not have an editor id. I suppose an editor id is not really mandatory? If it's not mandatory, then the logic in SSX is just based on the wrong thing. It's trying to use something doesn't always exist as a unique id. It would have been better and more reliable to use reference ids; only conflict I can forsee in using these is reference id recycling which may or may not be a thing. Ā What if you install More Informative Console, then: Open console. pridĀ FE245810 Use MIC to find the editor id. Is there one?

Ā I tried a few NPCs from various sources, and the vanilla NPCs were added quickly, and without an issue every time. Ā Damn it.Ā I guess that's that. Given Eldr3d rebuilt this in 2024, I'd assumed it would be up to date and open to mod added NPCs.Ā But it seems not. Oh well. Ā Well, thank you so much for your help, Traison.
traison Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 (edited) Here's replacement scripts for SSX using form ids instead of editor ids. This will most likely break existing configuration (not just rules). If SSX is keeping its configurationĀ in json files, remove them temporarily while testing this. If SSX is keeping its configuration in the save, reset its components (ssx_*) with ReSaver or start a new game when testing this. Not tested. It's entirely possible everything is broken with this one. I basically just replaced all instances of it fetching the editor id with calls to the vanilla GetFormID function. Ā Edit: Download removed. Ā The two rules I have remain intact, and I can now choose the individuals by name. But the Form IDs aren't coming over - when I add the actor it pops up as "Unknown" butĀ it does add the actor as 'Unknown' and save it!Ā The mod warns the FormIDs are invalid or can't be identified, but at least we are getting that far.
