eldr3d Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 [Abandoned] Scent of Sex NG View File More than a year ago, I started reworking Scent of Sex SE. This is the result. I have ceased development on this project. Feel free to contribute to the repository linked below, I will happily accept merge requests. Please do not expect support, updates or fixes for this project. I might help you, if I can, but since this is abandoned, you are on your own. This has not seen the same thorough testing that the original release has. It might corrupt your saves, ruin your performance, etc. CONFIGS FOR THE ORIGINAL RELEASE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE! NEITHER ARE OLD SAVE GAMES! Important Links - Wiki - Source Requirements - SkyUI - SexLab - Spell Perk Item Distributor - Papyrus Extender - po3's Tweaks - Fuz Roh D-oh The original mod is not required. Changes - Improved dialogue lines suitable for a variety of different situations - A faster NPC scanner using SPID instead of a cloak spell to (hopefully) improve performance - Now displaying all factions and races in your game - Config files use editorIDs instead of FormIDs - Plugin is now flagged as ESL This is licensed under the GPL, which means you are free to create derivatives under the same license. I am also accepting MRs in case anyone feels like it, and I have documented todos in the issue tracker. Q&As How do I export/import rules? SSXNG saves the rules to Data/configs/Scent of Sex/. They are "exported" whenever you save and "imported" whenever you load iirc. This means that the rules will always be synchronized between saves automatically. Is this better than the original release? You'll have to decide for yourself. There are more bugs in this version than in the OG one, that is for sure. X isn't working! Sorry. Please ignore it, fix it yourself or uninstall this mod. If you're having issues with the MCM (which is very likely), you can try editing the config files mentioned above by hand. RexSanfred Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 I was so excited to see this pop up. I've been using Scent of Sex for years waiting for an update or fine-tuning. So disappointed when I read it was buggy and unsupported. Anyway, thanks for making Scent of Sex.
Sydney Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Thank you. I do hope you or one of the other smart people pick this up again in the future! Regardless, thanks again!
Bluegunk Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) Hi Eldr3d. I'm aware you've stopped working on this excellent mod. However, regarding the MCM "Edit Mod" Filter, I have one quick observation. The script, ssxDeferredModsLoaderQuest could not access ESPFE files. I hope you don't mind but @zeelok kindly helped me, and rebuilt the script so the mod now will find and use ESPFEs. Also, the choice lists are much larger. Here's the updated script: ssx_deferred_mods_loader_quest.zip Many thanks to Zeelok! We hope users find it useful. Edited October 11, 2024 by Bluegunk 6
ArgyleSmith Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 The other day I posted to the SSXSE comment thread, reporting how that mod wasn't showing any animations. I mean, the menu shows animations as "No animations" and usually that page of the menu would never load for me. That's after using the program for years and having it work either perfectly or imperfectly. So, I thought that maybe trying the NG version again, on a new game, might help get me past the problem. Maybe NG would even work for me this time unlike when I tried it before. But no. Same problem. Can't make new rules without getting flagged for lacking valid animations (because no animations available). Yes, other sexlab and Ostim animations work just fine with other triggering programs. But I consider Scent of Sex's contribution a necessary element of a playthrough, so I'm eager to find a way past this problem. Any idea what could trigger this kind of problem? This most recent attempt was on a new game. I get sexlab set up before adding SSXSE (or Scent of Sex SE NG) to the mix. Also get a few SLAL animations registered in addition to the default Sexlab ones. None of them show up for either version of Scent.

I can recommend LogExpert for viewing them live, filtering and searching them. Other than that, as with any other problem: Try building a minimal working example, where you have a completely fresh install of Skyrim and then you install just SSX and all of its (direct and indirect) dependencies. Don't install any extra animations just yet, SL comes with a few, that's enough for testing. 1

But I do especially appreciate the program recommendation. I'm normally able to and eager to avoid taking the step of logging papyrus errors. I'll usually opt for simplicity before taking that step. But if it's unavoidable it's unavoidable. Cheers. Update March 5, 2025: I started a series of new games with sets of mods removed from the load order. I've narrowed it (I hope) to two suspects: Alternate Perspective and Sexlab Utilities Plus. With both of those removed, animations finally loaded for me on Scent NG. A another experiment or two and I should have the incompatibility nailed down. Edited March 5, 2025 by ArgyleSmith Updated information
bluetortoise Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 (edited) Mod seems to have been installed just fine, shows up in mcm and i can set up rules and everything, except nothing actually works. Also i tried to download rules made by others and realized there is not even a scent of sex folder in my skse folder. UPDATE: After further tinkering with the mod, i finally managed to get the sex scenes to work. The location condition doesnt seem to work tho, need to experiment more. ProWorx Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 Can't believe there is a SSXSE NG thread!! Been using original for years and first tried the NG when it was so filled with bugs and didn't work. Hoping it now works
sidfu1 Posted June 29, 2025 Posted June 29, 2025 right now trying to figure out why its seems to ne adding aggresive to all aniations no matter the settings i have setup. now it plays the right anaitions but een when consential it seems to make other mods think its aggresive
Bluegunk Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 (edited) I can build my scenes quite happily with Scent, but for ONE problem. If I choose a mod-added specific actor and click "Add this Actor," I get this mysterious message and I cannot save the rule with a specific actor. I can't work out if I am missing a step in building the scene, or a script has a glitch. Because (respectively: Actors, Factions, Relationship types.) doesn't give me a clue what missing information is needed and where from in the menu system. I've tried for a while to pin this one down. Eldr3d, if you're still around, perhaps you could have a glance at it please? Edited August 24, 2025 by Bluegunk

Updated file I am very pleased to report that, thank you to @Traison, this element of Scent of Sex not only is fixed, it is fully operational now. The mod will now fully work for identifying "Specific" actors from mod-added actors (including ESPFE). This means you can build a rule for (e.g.) two of your mod-added followers to have a regular animation happen - and with space for up to 24 rules, you can create an entire range of sexual incidents for your named couple. Should you choose to do so. The attached scripts in the file below contain the fix. But before you use them make sure you BACK UP the original mod. If you have used it and created some rules, fully back up those too. By posting these script alterations you must be sentient enough to: Go down on bended knee and worship @Traison for his fantastic work. Remember that Scent of Sex is the work of @CPU, the original port to SSE was by @CPU and @Pfiffy, and this final upgrade by @Eldr3d. All praise to them for their work. @Traison nor I will be supporting this improvement. You're on your own. Back up the SSX mod before doing enything. Be aware it may not work in your game. Test, test, test. Unpack the 7z, and copy-paste the scripts into the mod. Always, always keep a back up first. Always test before committing. SSX Specific Actor Fix SSE with sources.7z Edited August 28, 2025 by Bluegunk Updated file, added script, sources now included. 4
43deadwood Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 Got this working now on AE - added script edits provided by @Bluegunk Didn't seem to be working with the SPID scans but on cell scanning all OK. Really happy as this mod allows me to fill in all the bits other mods don't deal with. Thanks for your work on this @elder3d 1
