I do not understand why this is happening, and it does not happen to me.  But I wrote a tool to pack the files as well, so you can repack the files instead of loading loose files to see if that helps.  Download here.  To be clear - I do not recommend repacking files for most people.  It is an option if you cannot figure out anything else.  Or see my next reply.

I actually have a tool specifically to make .kurodlc..json files from mods that did not include them, see here for instructions.  Download the full tool package here.

Sorry, I do not take requests or commissions.  Especially all those costumes - at this point I think I have over a hundred custom costumes in daybreak 2 alone released here on loverslab.  I could probably beat this game 5-10 times with the amount of time it would take me to move them over, and I would rather use that time for other things.

I do not know why some people are having issues with making tables, since I cannot reproduce all the errors...  but if you are using the latest version of the game in English (GungHo v1.40.3), you can just use the tables I included in the mod itself.

This looks correct...  Did you rename or delete the original .pac file as well?  Please do look over every step of both tutorials on the second post of this thread to see if anything was missed.

This is how your empty folder should look like. you need the original files, the DOA and the kurodlc_make_tbls, then execute the kurodlc and it will create the new files

2- After that, go to pac and use the Python script to unpack table_en, you will get a table_en folder

3- Copy all the files (except DOACosplaymode and Kurodlc_make_tbls) from the empty folder, and paste them in the table_en folder

4- Move the table_en folder to the root

5- delete the table_en.pac file back in the pac folder

 

keep in mind that the loose file loader only works for assets, it seems like it doesnt work for tables

Sorry, I do not take requests or commissions.  Especially all those costumes - at this point I think I have over a hundred custom costumes in daybreak 2 alone released here on loverslab.  I could probably beat this game 5-10 times with the amount of time it would take me to move them over, and I would rather use that time for other things.

 

 

I do not know why some people are having issues with making tables, since I cannot reproduce all the errors...  but if you are using the latest version of the game in English (GungHo v1.40.3), you can just use the tables I included in the mod itself.

for me i had to take the file from table_en to table for them to work. i believe if someone has both tabl and table_en, en will not work, same with image vs image_en. i use mods that take from both table and image and i just overwrote table and image with their en counterparts. this allowed me to use the dOA outfits and fixed my game being partly in jp.

for my case to be works, i move (put in a backup folder) the original 4 .pac files (the unextracted one) that was in "pac\steam" folder out from the game folder

Any possibility that you are trying to use the .dll mod loader? That’s a known bug of the loader; the author is aware and looking into it.

This is actually the problem, thankyou very much, you don't know how much it hurts my head trying to fix it with all the unpacking and remodding everything, and I really appreciate the help

Instructions:

  • Follow this tutorial to unpack asset_common_model.pac - please make sure your game still loads before proceeding to the next step!

I hope we get some mods for the NPCs. Sky games feel like most notable NPCs you meet along the way are women, especially the bracers Anelace and Carna or the mayor of bose and her maid, and of course Kilika.

Thank you for the kind words, @amorrow28-san, I’ll keep developing, but for now I’m focusing on learning from your releases and tutorial and working quietly on my side.
My first milestone is semi-transparency; I’m still wrestling with it and iterating.
If it’s alright, I may reach out with the occasional technical question—any guidance when you have time would be greatly appreciated.

Open DOACosplayMod.kurodlc.json in a JSON editor (for example JSON Editor Online), find the item you want to change in ItemTableData, and change "unk7" to a large number.  The higher the number, the lower the item will be in the list.  Here you can see how I changed it to 10000, which will put it at the bottom of the list.

That specific mod should already be compatible with the nintendo switch, as far as I know.  I do not own a modded switch, but past games (daybreak / ys x) could share mods on switch if no textures were changed, and I did not change any textures for that mod.

I modded some of them in my UnSkirt Mod, so that's something.

This is almost always due to more than one installation of python existing.  I'm currently using 3.13, I can verify kuro mdl tools works just fine on that release.  Are you not the person who also asked on Discord?  I could've sworn we already solved this issue.

@lakovic helped me find a semi-transparency (alpha blend type) material that actually works, it is chr_cloth#ea910e2e6be0b374 (available in chr5318.mdl).  It looks metallic, but at least it works.  I also needed an alpha mask type full-transparent material for Kloe though, and I used chr_cloth#cc76db1ce0d7dda8 (available in ob_e00_000b.mdl).  That one does not work very well but I had no choice.  This game has almost no transparency in it, which is unfortunate.

Nothing is impossible, but that would be incredibly difficult.  I would start with something easier, especially if you do not have much modding experience.  Tutorials are here.

Thanks for the very quick reply—really appreciate it. I’ll use those pointers as a starting point and experiment on my side.
As part of a study-first approach (learning from @amorrow28-san’s releases and tutorial), I’m planning to try a slightly sheer pass on Scherazard’s top from my earlier post.
Hearing from you how limited transparency is in this game, I feel the same—it’s unfortunate.
