Haha, it reminds me of some developers on Steam who upload patches to remove censorship from their games on Twitter, Yoko Taro, and the Stellar Blade guys who liked what they did with 2B/Eve.

You don't. It is a paid mod. You would have to message him to see if you can purchase it but know that it is made with stollen assets from other modders.

Nah, people knew from the beginning. He is just lazy and doesnt give a damn, there are people willing to throw money to his feet but he wont even pick them up

Well, I think I should throw my two cents on this since I'm kinda responsible for the "stolen" thing...

 

 

Not to defend Mercury here, but to my knowledge, these assets are not technically stolen, as there are archives and if I'm not mistaking and thinking of other asset set, you can buy them, not the rights to the assets, but more like the RyanReos models (Primrose, that one model you see in every asset flip on Steam). So I think that saying that Mercury "stole" the assets is a bit disingenuous, as don't think anyone can prove there assets were stolen... Yes, there are popular in DOA 3D renders and modding, but it's made by a few people, not just one guy.

 

 

Now that being said, and leaving the "paid mods" nuances to each one, as everybody have a different take on the matter, the price for the mods is kinda high, specially since USD might have weakened lately, but there are places where it remains with a high trade ratio, and you can look it up, there are studies that found out that people spend less in games now a days, and more people fit into the "buy a couple games a year" group, so paying half the price of a game in a mod (or more than it for a few mods) it's ludacrist.

Actually, there's not much to say. Take the previous Re 2 mod controversy as an example.

If the original assets are free, and you modify them and sell them, you are indeed stealing.

If the original material is behind a paywall, and you modify it and then sell it, you are still stealing!

If the original material is behind a paywall, and you modify it and then release it for free, you are stealing!

If the original material is free and allows modification, and you modify it and then release it for free, this is simply community sharing.

The only difference is that if the original assets are allowed to be commercially sold, then modifying them and selling them is not a problem.

 

However, these controversies are purely ethical, because in most countries, mods operate in a legal gray area. All mods are illegal unless permitted by the original developer.

99% of companies don't care about the use of mods in their games, as mods help the game gain more hype and longevity. In fact, they clearly take advantage of it. Some companies, like CD Projekt Red and Bethesda, even encourage and release tools for this.

Other companies, like Ubisoft, make it as difficult as possible to use mods; their engine is a disaster for modders because it uses many shared textures and elements, and it's difficult or impossible to inject new models.

Capcom uses the RE Engine, which is one of the easiest engines to model with, and its resources allow for very high-quality mods, with native jiggle physics and many other features for swapping elements and characters; it's very modder-friendly.

I think it's valid to have paid mods, as there are modders who invest a lot of time and study in their development. People buy them if they want to.

You have a chance to get this in AyakaMods yet I've been told that you must pay few dollars if you want that nude version.
