Is sexlab P+ worth it?

If all you'd like to do is test scene startup speed, there's not much hassle unless you're still playing on LE. The requirements are straightforward for any modern AE install.

 

You don't have to convert any animations yourself as there's a prebuilt SLSB pack available on the P+ LL page or the P+ Discord (latest) with conversions for 40+ animation packs, and I'd be surprised if the packs you use aren't included. I'd also be curious to know which "best sex mods" you're referring to which you believe are incompatible; P+ has come a long way and while there are many SL mods out there, the known incompatibility list is short. As for redoing load order, you wouldn't have to change much - just disable the few mods which are made obsolete or redundant by P+ (SLU+, SLAL, SLSO, SLAS, SLGP, Smooth Expressions), make sure nothing is overwriting any P+ scripts w/ Mod Organizer, and you should be good to go.

 

There isn't much need for a video as scenes simply start immediately, regardless of the number of actors. In your video, the scene would have started somewhere between 0:16 and 0:17. Also, keep in mind that scene startup speed isn't the only benefit of P+. You can read more on the P+ wiki if you wish.

Hey, the information you shared was helpful. Basically, the speed is about the time it takes to register and start Sexlab in a new game, and since on my rig and with my load order that’s really not a serious problem for me, I can do without the mod for now. Even so, I think new casual players will benefit, because honestly the forums keep getting flooded with people who have no clue what they’re doing with their Skyrim setup and thought, because they saw a nice video with good mods, that it would be a walk in the park. I’ve been playing this Bugthesda dinosaur for more than 15 years, so I know what I’m doing. For now, P+ doesn’t really give me any benefit, but I can definitely see the advantages for new and frustrated players who already have enough to deal with handling their load order, even though that’s supposed to be what mod collections are for, and even then it still doesn’t stop people from continuing to look for answers to their bugs.

In my setup, there’s not much difference when there are more actors, maybe just 1 second more and I don’t think taking 1 second to start is really a problem. I could definitely take another look at the mod later but for now I’m going to pass, thanks.
