Anunya Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Running around my game I saw that: Fralia Greymane's head is purple, as if she's missing a texture (but I can see her wrinkles underneath the purple). Also, the teeth of every NPC is similarly purple. What is the best way to diagnose the cause of this? I assume it's a missing texture somewhere, but where from? The other "Elder Race" people I've checked do not seem to suffer from that issue. I used More Informative Console to see what mods affected Fralia and it said AI Overhaul. I disabled AI Overhaul and the problem persisted, while More Informative Console said "Unknown" for what had last affected her. I opened up SSEEdit to see if could tell anything, but I don't actually really know what to look for. When I look at Fralia's entry it doesn't look like any mods are affecting her at all (but I don't really know if I'm looking in the right place). I tried using Copy NPC Appearance to copy Fralia's appearance and save it out as a jslot, to look at that - but unfortunately Copy NPC Appearance doesn't seem to work on AE and I haven't found another way to do it. I also installed a teeth replacer (BnP Teeth Overhaul) and gave it priority over everything else in the hope that it would overwrite whatever mod caused the teeth issue, but it made no difference. If anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed, I'd appreciate it
traison Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 More Informative Console lists textures including missing ones. 1
plutocene Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 To me, it sounds like you are missing an overlay texture. Shes a Whiterun NPC. Do you have a Whiterun npc overhaul installed? Try disabling it. If its gone download the mod again and reinstall it. Sometimes, archives/textures are corrupt. The purple teeth are weird thats something different. If BNP teeth overhaul doesn't fix it it sounds like the meshes have a different texture path, I just dont know why. 1
Grey Cloud Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Mouth textures should live here: textures\actors\character\mouth Fralia's Base ID is 00013B9C. See if there is a 00013B9C.dds in Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm If you are using an overhaul/replacer for her then things will probably be different. 1

Okay, I'm going to ask a very basic MIC question here. How do I see them? When I open MIC and click on Fralia it says "Textures: [39]:" ... but how do I navigate see what they are? When I hover the mouse over it it highlights in yellow, but clicking on it selects whatever object in the world space behind the window.
Anunya Posted July 19, 2025 Author Posted July 19, 2025 So I've been poking at this for a bit, with no luck so far. I've turned off all the NPC overhauls and overlay mods I can think of, one by one with no change. So either I missed something, or it's coming from somewhere less obvious. I did have some success with installing the replacer "Project Cougar: Fralia Greymane." With that mod, the face issue is fixed... but I still would really like to understand what causes the problem to begin with.
Anunya Posted July 19, 2025 Author Posted July 19, 2025 As for the teeth, I can report that I figured it out: I must've selected the "distribute teeth" option when I installed Racial Skin Variance, but I did not install the BnP teeth RSV patch (or BnP Teeth). In retrospect that makes total sense. It usually does. So that's solved.

Anunya Posted July 19, 2025 Author Posted July 19, 2025 Thank you! Also for anyone who ends up experiencing the same issue, I can report that the issue was down to a missing patch for Racial Skin Variance, as apparently the unpatched version causes issues with Fralia and Esbern specifically.
