1258523 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hey mclericp, It sucks when you become disinterested in a great game like skyrim. It has happend to me in multiple occasions and like many people have said before take a break for a couple months and move onto another group of games. I have found that playing an entirely different genre from your norm is a really nice change aswell. I generally move from skyrim to first person shooters, platformers. For me I lost interest after I began to realize that there was so much wasted potential in the game and started modding it. The amazing modding community is what has held my interest in the game and my interest really only peaks when I see a mod that I would be interested in fiddling with.
Guest Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Skyrims just boring to me, i loved oblivion thou. Everything felt the same in skyrim, oh dungeon, oh use same attack to kill 4 people. steal everything, someone 10 feet away sees u, use same attack to kill it, oh lvled up, gets new bow, does same attack with this bow, oh i get house with no real benefits. oh i get bodygaurd that sucks at fighting worse than foresworn XD Oblivion's the exact same way, but with lame graphics, bad map design (like a pile of rocks with a door for a cave entrance), poor character/NPC interactions, NPCs with no life, etc., etc., etc....... The combat system in Oblivion is barely a step above that in Morrowind in all honesty. I don't see how you can have a problem with Skryim combat and not with Oblivion. I've played Oblivion for at least 5000 hours over the years and absolutely love that game. But don't let inaccurate memories get in the way. It's a huge step down from Skryim. I honestly think that NPC interactions are even worse than in Oblivion (not counting the Interesting NPCs because they're not in the vanilla game). Skyrim's combat system and animations are definitely a huge step forward, except for spells which got dumbed down to the max, but the landscape looks somewhat bland...now why is that? It's too bleak. Trees are bleak, buildings are bleak, roads are bleak, snow is bleak and everything looks kinda the same. Oblivion was basically just the same 5000x copy-pasted forest but it was a colourful forest and it had some nice contrast with the Oblivion realms whereas Skyrim has two interesting areas that you probably visit only once (Blackreach & Sovngarde). Although Skyrim is probably supposed to be kinda bleak they've overdone it imo. HOWEVER! As soon as I installed a terrain overhaul like Tropical Skyrim or Seasons of Skyrim it immediately became alot more interesting.

Frozen tundra and icy mountains aren't exactly colorful, vibrant tropical paradises, you know? I thought Oblivion was awesome and still like it. But Skryim's a big step up in most ways. And in ways that it isn't it can be modded. For example, I really missed spellcrafting.....but you can mod that, too.
Lovely Rose Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 but i guess considering their basicaly the same excat thing and i beat oblivion like 100 times. SKyrim is boring sense oblivion is boring to me xD

absoltekk Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I found this game dull without mods, the constant flow of new and interesting mods keep me attached to this game.
XunAmarox Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I play Skyrim in bursts of 1-2 months at a time with a downtime of like 5-6 months.
itt1968 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I don't think I grew tired of playing, I took a 6 month leave just so the modding community could hopefully finish some of those awesome mods... so many mods were a WIP that I just couldn't wait to play them so I just left the game alone until about a month ago... now its like "what mod to download first... OMG!!!" lol
