SLAL to OCreatures Converter

This is a python script to automatically convert a SLAL pack to one that is compatible with OCreatures. Thanks to @akameskyrim for a large amount of the python code.

HOW TO USE:

  1. Run the script and select the directory of the SLAL pack
  2. When prompted, enter the name of the pack's author
  3. Once the script is finished look in the output directory and you should see a folder with the pack name followed by "_OCreatures". Simply install this folder using the mod manager of your choice (probably compress to rar or zip first)
  4. Let the generated mod load after the original SLAL pack, and if there is a conflict with OCreatures (there shouldn't be) let OCreatures overwrite the generated mod.
  5. Run pandora
  6. Profit?

 

 

Troubleshooting:

Sometimes things go wrong, and that's okay (sometimes). Below are some common things that can happen and how to solve them.

 

Generally, some issues with the conversion can be solved simply by reinstalling the SLAL pack, as it is possible for the files to become damaged if the conversion fails (though unlikely).

Its also important to keep in mind that the scenes have to be something that is possible within the current version of OCreatures, and for such issues, talk to @J0suk3_ not me.

 

Script says it couldn't open [blank].xml because it was used by another process

I believe this is caused by FNIS still using the xml while my script tries to access it. It happens rarely but usually just restarting the script will do.

 

The scenes don't show up in game

This suggests an issue with the generated files. Try converting the pack again or looking at the JSON files yourself to see if there is a noticeable issue. Otherwise its probably an issue with the script, so reach out to me.

 

The scenes in game have no movement or actors are t-posing

Usually this is an issue with using pandora incorrectly. Try running pandora again and if it still isn't working it may be my fault, so try converting the pack again. If it still isn't working reach out to me with the pack you were trying to convert and I'll see if I can fix the issue.

If someone wants to convert some packs please wait until I release animation porting guide. I promise it will be proper and relatively errorless compared to earlier version

Using this tool is only half the work required to make a proper pack please have it in mind

Attempting to convert Baka's animations just led to FNIS failures. 

Most of the other packs managed to convert correctly, just not BakaFactory's.

1st error is caused by the space in the folder name

2nd error is I don't know.

3rd it didn't create anything in the OCreatures folder deep in SKSE

Seems to be working for the most part! I've tried this with three SLAL packs so far. Everything seems to work with Anubs Animation Pack and Nibbles Anims. The only one I can't seem to get working is FunnyBizness SLAL Pack. It creates the SKSE files but nothing seems to work in game.

did you convert anubs pack fully? 
me and ocreature creator couldnt converting it can you maybe send us the file? it will be very helpfull for ocreature development ty in advice <3

I think so, when installing Anubs Animation Pack 5 I chose ANIMOBJECTS, CREATURE and CREATURE 2.

I've attached the output from converter that I used with my game. Hope it helps!!!

It tells me something about  "Failed to create actor data - cannot access local variable 'actor_data' where it is not associated with a value" had it working one time but the anims didn't show up in game so I tried to convert them again and well back to square one

Kind of got it to Work The anims show up however I can only see them or the Others (I can switch between them via the "search" function) Since this tool couldn't Finish the JSON files I used another tool for that and that seemed to have done the trick (except for the issue mentioned above)

Are there any people who have been able to convert MNC? I would like to get an animation with a female werewolf, but I cannot understand the conversion

Ocreatures already contains ported MNC animations

i can't figure out how to run this i tried the hkxc.exe, then figured it must be the main.py. I can't just run a python script does it go in the mo2 tools folder, or do i need to install a program that runs python scripts...
